On that note, I would like to share the "Music Genome Project" of Pandora.Com. The program takes input on artists and songs and creates a "radio" station made up of music with similar qualities. It can be hit-or-miss, especially with esoteric artists, but a few fantastic bands have come up as the result of a little opinion contribution (it is a very receptive database).

Could you please recommend swim some songs that fit into this category.
Not really into my hardcore these days but here's some fairly recent tunes that I liked...

Ultravibes - Irresistible
Bounce & Phobic - This Is The Beat (Bounce Mix)
Statik - Got A Feeling (Breeze Remix)
Squad-E - My Direction (Essential Platinum Remix)
Joey Riot - Into Tomorrow
Gammer - Liberation (Fly Like An Angel)
Gammer - Rippin Up (Kevin Energy RMX)

Re: music and ecstasy

There is already an existing thread all about music and various drugs, Swiy just has to use the search. However, staying on topic, Swim cannot supply a list of favourite ecstasy tunes because especially in the club scene, any tune is just amazing. Swim finds it easier to answer your questions by saying trance, hard dance, electro, house, deep tech and fidget music.

Re: music and ecstasy

Sorry for the double-post, I scanned ecstasy forum but didn't see anything!
There isn't any songs that stick out to swiy?
Swim finds the following songs exillerating whilst rolling:
BK - Revolution
Stimulant DJs- Are You Serious
Delerium - Silence (when swim was peaking for the first in a club, heard this!)
DJ Tiesto & Suzanne Palmer - 643 (Love's On Fire)
Ferry Corsten - Punk

Re: music and ecstasy

SWIM dislikes trancy and hard house music, more into pure banging techno.. electro house, hardstyle!! But while SWIM is rolling, anything is good to be honest, well not anything, within reason... But some, hard house.. trance tunes sound good! The post above though is a good thing to go by, near enough everyone of them songs are great when your rolling! Especially, especially, especially Silence!! oh yeah, and let's not leave out Motorcycle - As the Rush Comes.. Can't forget that tune !

swim doesn't really like euphoria or chillout tunes whilst rolling
swim prefers electronic... strange noises (not trippy tho), electronic noises that go from speaker to speaker and such, sends a chill right through!
any others experience this?

if swiy's do also experience this, feel free to recommend swim a few!

Re: Recommend me some tunes.

SWIM finds that specific happy hardcore songs due to their cheezy general lyrics can have deep sentimental impact while at the same time being great for dancing. This happens when SWIM is rolling and having the time of his life with friends. Many songs have become favorites which previously SWIM found annoying but to the memories attached these songs now have a special place in SWIM's heart.

To Anony it seems like Psychedelic trance could be in your corner. Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection, Hallucinogen are all good psytrance that aren't too "chillout-type" music as psytrance can sometime fall into repetitive bloopy noises that bore the person seeking to be dancing to something dark and beautiful.

Re: Recommend me some tunes.

Yeah, to be honest SWIM has to agree there with the above post ^^!! Happy hardcore, personally SWIM really dislikes, used to like it though, however most Happy hardcore tunes are the best to listen to when your rolling! When you hear them soba, it brings back so many memories and really makes you wanna go out with your friends and go mad!! Paul van Dyke - For an Angel! That's a must! When you're rolling that is a very nice song.. So is Silence and As the Rush comes! But overall, sometimes, hardstyle and hard techno etc can be a bit 2 heavy when your rolling, so, like the above post, Happy hardcore can be quite a good way to go!

Re: Recommend me some tunes.

I don't agree entirely with the notion that certain types of music are more suited to rolling than others. The music you're listening to the first time you MDMA, you're probably going to fall in love with it, just because.

SWIM would recommend listening to what you (in the general sense of the word) normally like, specifically the stuff that tends to set off the endorphins, for whatever reason.

SWIM's personal best music experience on MDMA was listening to "Battlefield" by Blind Guardian. Ridiculously epic.

Prog-rock seems to have become a massive genre (especially if it now contains both Tool & King Crimson!) but Ill do my best to recommend a few based on the mentioned three.

-Don Caballero
-Do Make Say Think
-TRS-80 (I highly recommend the early albums Mr. Kickass, and Shake Hands With Danger)
-Dirty Three (much more mellow)
-1-Speed Bike (odd fellow, equally strange music)
-Squarepusher (more electronic)
-Hawkwind (goes well with King Crimson)
-Mogwai
-Papa M (mellow progressive)
-Valley of The Giants
-Tortoise!

Bit of an eclectic prog mix there for you. Shampoo's recommended some post-rock and IDM as well, so I'll throw a bit of that in:

Explosions In The Sky
Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Sigur Ros
Pelican
Venetian Snares
Aphex Twin
Mu-Ziq
Bogdan Raczynski
Nobukazu Takemura
Susumu Yokota

And strange bands whose experimentation goes far beyond what most consider 'prog':

Acid Mothers Temple
Sleepytime Gorilla Museum
The Boredoms
Melt Banana
Ghost
Sunn O)))
Boris
!!!
Xanopticon

Re: Recommend me some tunes.

I have to heartily second the recommendation for Sigur Ros, Mogwai, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

Those are 3 of short list of bands that can tear me away from some form of electronic dance music. Sigur Ros puts an amazing amount of effort into every song and their new movie "Heima" is simply epic. It provided one of the strongest psychedelic experiences for a friend of mine and his other friend while they were on 2C-T-2. Mogwai's infamous "wall of sound" is great to just get lost in great music. Godspeed You! Black Emperor is is too unique to adequately describe. Whenever I listen to them I get this beautiful dark dystopian feeling but it does have the potential to be too overwhelming for some. They have very few songs that could be described as light and happy, most are long (20min+) and change dramatically through the duration.
