Opinions - Right age for LSD?

Whats the right age to try? Swims younger brother started getting into marijuana and mushrooms and wants to try lsd he says he ready for it but i think the age is too young to try at 16. "My Flamingo" first try lsd at 19 and thought it was intense and could be brain damaging.

Yes 16 is too young to try, imho. Tell her to wait, she has plenty of time to explore her consciousness i the future.

swim began experimenting with LSD at the age of 15... but swim does not suggest it because it caused many-a-freakouts with the whole parent thing and not being fully comfortable with himself. swim does not suggest your friend take LSD because it is not a race to get to the biggest and baddest trip out there... encourage your friend to become more comfortable with himself on and off drugs to full prepare for the sometimes mind-shattering effects of LSD (assuming that swiy can actually get real LSD which is pretty slim...)

brain damage is not a true negative with LSD. a person can precipitate mental states that were unbeknown to the person before the trip (schizophrenia, and others) but those things rarely happen and such.

just think about this if 15% of drug using kids in high school have tried LSD and it caused brain damage then we'd have a good lot of really fucked up kids now wouldn't we?

While Lsd indeed can not cause brain damage, I would reckon that the possible negative mental risks associated with Lsd could be higher in one who's brain is still not fully developed.
But I have no source for that claim!

MOST teenagers are too immature to take LSD, or other psychedelics. There are exceptions, of course. But as a general rule - try to say to wait, read more, learn more.

IMHO, it totally depends upon the prior experiences with psychedelics and how mature SWIM's friend is. If he has done enough shrooms and pot he can probably go ahead with a very low dosage(say 30ug ?). But again, its really difficult to find real LSD and then find out the dosage.

The best idea would be be to let him wait till he is 18, read and learn enough on what a real psychedelic trip experience can be(positives and negatives), and then do it in a comfortable setting with proper precautions.

The first LSD trip can be exremely beautiful, enlightening and a learning experience if your brain is mature and ready. But it can be scary like hell as well if you are immature or do not have proper experiences.

Exactamundo .... SWIM had very bad mushroom trips in highschool which put him off any halucinagenic for the future. SWIM tried L a bunch of times over the summer and because he has his own place (no parents) and is 100% confident about who he is, it's like he NEVER has to worry about having a bad trip ever again. SWIM can't even remember what a bad trip is like! Only thing that could cause SWIM to have a bad trip is eating way too much LSD and being around sounds that made the trip very intense.
