It really depends. SWIM can go without alcohol or weed longer than SWIM can go without sex, but SWIM is very addicted to opiates and cannot go more than one day without them. Sex is not addictive, to most people but drugs are.

You have brought up a very good point. I didn't even think of it in that way. There are people who are addicted to sex too so it would be interesting to ask a nymphomaniac who is also addicted to a drug (or drugs) the same question.

swim proved a point and stayed without ANY sexual contact (self contact or contact from others) for 10 months.

But personally, Swim would rather go without drugs than sex, drugs can inhabit many places in swims life and absorb money like no other. Sex on the other hand is a healthy practice in a healthy relationship, besides, it is a great work-out!

definitely agree on all points and I'm once again struck by the coincidental nature in our lives. my raver friend went through a similar abstinence period without trouble as well.

Any drug that is used repeatedly eventually results in the novelty wearing off, the same applies to an orgasm. The wonderful thing about drugs is that there are an almost endless supply of different chemicals in which to find a new experience. How can sex ever beat drugs?

Sex releases chemicals and feels euphoric too. Swim finds that good sex feels much better than drugs. An orgasm feels better than being high imo. Swim usually wants to have sex when she drinks or does drugs so if only one were available, sex it is. lol

Thanks. My little fishy finds the duration and intensity of an orgasm is a far cry from the possibilities with drugs. MDMA alone is a mental orgasm which lasts for hours!

It's far more essential to her state of well-being than drugs. She enjoys drugs too, but if it was a straight choice, one or the other, well it's no choice at all really

Sex (with the right person) raises endorphins, improves mood, aids sleep (post orgasm, rather than during, LOL) and generally makes her a far more calm, well rounded and well adjusted individual.

From a purely practical point of view, it is much more available, and considerably cheaper (ie: Free!)

Of course, if one were having unsatisfactory sex, then they might choose drugs

Addictive, to say the least. Yet it's administered simply by being with a significant other.

Sex is even more addictive, as it works on endorphins, the body's natural opiates (painkillers.) along with a few other compounds that cause the body to tighten up and the like.

If it were between love and drugs, I'd choose love any day.

I thought Phenethylamine was inactive and had no psychoactive properties?

I watched a scientific documentary once that followed many couples from the start of their relationships. To cut a long story short the brain scans showed their was an increase of dopamine production/release for the first 3.5 years of their love after which point it slowly faded back to normal. The conclusion was that if a couple were still together after those 3.5 years then it would be true love.
