Can doctors write themselfs scipts for prescription drugs?

Swim was thinking again, and swim was wondering , can a dotor write himself a perscription for anykind of drug a doctor would need and or want? Is it legal or illegal?

P.S swim recived a warning today for talking about prices of drugs. just so everyone knows it is against the rules to talk about prices on drugs.

In the UK the GMC (General Medical Council) makes it very clear that self-prescribing is unacceptable, and a disciplinary offence.

In the UK doctors are also not supposed to prescribe for family members, or for people they do not have a professional duty of care to (ie: friends).

Same deal in Australia. No doctor is allowed to prescribe for themselves ever. Not even something like antibiotics.

Of course that doesn't stop aneasthetists from pinching the occasional vile of pethidine from the hospital stash!
