Cream dispensers and size
If SWIM had a 1-liter cream dispenser and she would like to use it with N2O canisters for recreational purposes, she thinks that one of the problems she might encounter is that the dispenser would be loaded with air before hand. Therefore, when she empties de N2O bottle into the dispenser, she will have a mix of N2O and air, thus having a less potent N2O. Would it be a good idea for SWIM to fill her dispenser with some matter (sugar, salt, water, or whatever) in order to reduce the space available for air? She thinks it shouldn't be dangerous, since the N2O would go straight to the balloon, without stopping inside of the dispenser for too long.
On the other hand, SWIM has also read that you need to keep you N2O bottles untouched for some minutes, in order for the N2O to go to the top of the bottle and thus not breathe other "ingredients", what are those ingredients? wouldn't leaving the bottle to rest for some minutes be useless since, when we put it into the canister, the bottle is gonna be upside down? Re: Cream dispensers and size
Please learn to use prefixes for your threads. They will make the search engine better if used properly. Anyways, I will do this for your two threads here. Just keep this in mind in future.
Although the loss of potency would only apply to the first whippet, I think water would be the most suitable to fill a dispenser with. Don't know anything about the other "ingredients". Maybe it's about the oily residues whippets usually contain besides the N2O. |

Re: Cream dispensers and size
SWIM thinks SWIY should definitely not put any other solid or liquid in the dispenser, as they would not be compressed and could cause the dispenser to explode, or its seals to break, If the dispenser is only to be used for the intention of inhalation, then there should never be a need to reopen it, so as SWIparca says after its first use, the space inside will be filled with n2o, not air.
If SWIY is really bothered about this small wastage, then with the top of the dispenser off blowing up a balloon inside the body of the dispenser will fill the space the air was taking, while keeping the air separate from any nitrous you put into it, as whippets are emptied into the dispenser, this balloon will reduce in size as the atmospheric pressure around it becomes greater. the only problem would be if this balloon burst, or blocked something inside. leaving the canister untouched for a period of time only applies when using, whipped cream cans from the supermarket, where cream and nitrous are premixed in a disposable canister, these cans are like an aerosol, SWIY needs to leave these still because otherwise SWIY will get a balloon full of cream instead of gas ![]() |

Re: Cream dispensers and size
Geezaman is right, I didn't think about the increased pressure. I guess one just has to accept the little loss of potency.

Re: Cream dispensers and size
Personally I always found that one of those mini bike-tire-inflators worked best for utilizing N20 cartridges recreationally. The only thing you gotta remember is that the sucker gets real, real cold! you could tear the skin right off your lips if you do too many in a row and aren't paying attention!

Re: Cream dispensers and size
Do you guys think a 1/4 litre dispenser is too small?

Re: Cream dispensers and size
Simple answer, No , a 1/4 liter dispenser is probably the best/most convenient.
Each size of dispenser (cream making type) is designed to make its capacity of cream. When the dispenser is only used as a method of cracking/opening the whippets/nangs/caps, then the size does not really matter, most people find the smaller ones as SWIY mentioned 1/4L more convenient and easier to hide, they are also often cheaper than the larger ones. Technically.... 2 caps can be cracked into the 1/2 liter ones, as it takes more gas to whip the greater quantity of cream, BUT for the purposes of inhaling, this has no advantage, and only adds risks, of seals breaking, valves failing and the whole thing exploding. |
