Drugs police raid wrong house

£1,000 worth of damage to front door
Police plan to fix the damage caused by its officers, after they raided a home in Luton mistakenly thought to be a cannabis factory.

Owner of the Repton Close house Kim Brawn was flabbergasted when she returned home last Friday morning to find her front door had been smashed in by drugs police with a search warrant.

But in fact there were no drugs being grown in the house and Kim was left with a broken front door.

She has already had to pay out £165 to have the door boarded up and it is thought it will cost up to £1,000 to fix.

Police told Kim there had been some sort of mistake, but she is now seeking compensation from the force.

Yesterday, a police spokeswoman said: "Urgent enquiries were carried out as soon as a copy of the letter had been received and as a consequence we are contacting the lady today with a view to fitting a door and dealing with the damage."
