rapid involuntary eye jiggling (nystagmus)

Swim has popped e many times. And everyonce and awhile he gets really bad eye jiggling. It doesn't really worry him but it becomes very annoying when trying to watch a movie or talk to people. He notices more when he is looking at something and quickly looks somewhere else. Then his eyes jiggle side to side and then go back to normal. On erowid.org they list that as a neutral side affect. Label it as rapid, involuntary eye jiggling (nystagmus). Has anyone else had this? Is it bad? Swims only thought is that it is a sign that his brain is being fried. He really has no clue.

Re: rapid involuntary eye jiggling (nystagmus)

Swim has experienced this several times, it is nothing bad and it is not your brain being fried. It is in fact on the neutral side, although swim actually likes the experience as long as it is not occurying too often.

Shulgin mentions this many times in his books with no mention of this as a sign of toxicity.

Re: rapid involuntary eye jiggling (nystagmus)

ok i dont get the whole swim referencing ( new to forum ) maybe i just havent read it or something I dont know

but yea.. first time i took MDMA i had one insane eye trip ..it was really fucked up .. i didnt know what was going on till i asked a guy who had done mdma before and he said it was natural and i thought kewl and i let it take over
i wouldnt say its a neutral side effect cuz i freakin LOVE it when it happens

i took mdma a few days ago at A party and i i seemed to have the eye buzzing when i was coming down and i was driving home ( not the smartest of ideas )
but it wasnt as fucked as it was when i first did it

i took 4 hits of mdma a few days ago the first time i did it i took 7 .. i was so fucked up
its actually the best drug iv done in a long time
speaking of drugs i think me my mom and a few others are doin shrooms tonight
SHOULD be good

If you see everyone saying swim did this or swim did that it is probably for a reason.

Re: rapid involuntary eye jiggling (nystagmus)

Yea, I had it happen to me on no sleep before, it is pretty cool, but it is surely not a sign of toxicity.

The labrats report experiencing this on mdma and tramadol (much less frequently).

vision shakes

Swim had something new happen to him yesterday after taking 2 of his usuals, his vision started shaking left to right when he tried to focus on something like.....puting a filter in a rollie or trying to read small print, it went away after the first hour of his roll but it still got him worried.

Has anyone else come accross this side affect?? any thought of what its caused from??

Re: vision shakes

Eye wiggles is a condition called nystagmus, and nothing to be concerned about generally. If its only when rolling, dont worry about it. If its when SWIY is sober it can be a symptom of a number of diseases. If it bothers SWIY enough, apparently gabapentin seems to relieve it.

Re: vision shakes

well swim's girlfriend got the eye wiggles for the first time when she rolled and now even when not rolling she still gets them sometimes... does this mean she is possibly in danger? swim has sort of been worried it would be nice if swim could understand what may possibly be wrong with her.

Re: vision shakes

SWIM is not a doctor, so whether or not she's in danger is up to you and her. If SWIM had this occur for more than a few days after a roll he would probably get it checked out. Better safe than sorry.

Re: vision shakes

swim gets them quite often when rolling and absolutely loves it. its so weird and fun. Its normally followed by an exclamation of "oh god, i'm so fucked".
he's never had them when not rolling though?

My friend says good to come here and check it out though - some effects can be a little shocking sometimes.
