Arrest warrants, driver records, and DWI
Backstory: SWIM was stopped at a checkpoint 7mo ago, failed, and spent the night in jail on suspected DWI.
SWIM got a court date that (yes, very stupid) he missed. Since that, he'd been watching the mail and assuming he had a warrant out on him. 3 mo ago, SWIM was stopped on the street and had his license run by the cops. No hit, no nothing. 1 mo. ago, SWIM had to replace a lost license. Surprisingly, no problems--he even asked about his last moving violation and was told "Speeding in '97." How can SWIM make certain he's clear w/o causing a "Oh yeah, we forgot about that. Thanks for reminding us!" |

Re: Arrest warrants, driver records, and DWI
Strangely, SWIM experienced the same thing, albeit it was for an expired inspection and not a DWI.
Still, he suspects it would have at least resulted in a license suspension or insurance company complications, but after nearly 12 months--nada. In SWIY's case, I think he should keep an eye on his auto insurance company--they will likely be the first signs of trouble (if any) in relation to the case. |

Re: Arrest warrants, driver records, and DWI
Call your local courthouse, tell them you are applying for a job and you need a printout of any and all charges on your record for the last ten years, including traffic tickets.
The night you were arrested- did you piss, give blood or blow? |

Re: Arrest warrants, driver records, and DWI
I would suggest going to the local Police Department with bond money and telling them that you think that you might have a warrant. Best case scenario for you is that you dont have one. Worst case scenario is you get arrested and immediately bond out.
An alternate way of solving this is to call your local Magistrate and explain to them that you missed your court date and you would like to reschedule it. |
