Codeine Cough Syrup

SWIM Would like to know if any SWIY's out there have an opinion or information relating to the oral use of Codeine Cough Syrup containing seemingly high amounts of Aspartame ,Sorbitol, Sodium Benzoate and Azorubine (Carmoisine) - (Red Food Colourant) ? SWIM dows know the effects of Sorbitol and Sodium Benzoate already and is mainly asking about the aspartame and red colouring.
SWIM knows that there was a study linking sodium bezoate + food colourings in combination to hyperactivity. SWIM wants to know mainly if Aspartame or the Red Dye may change the experience or add unwanted side effects.

BTW the Syrup is 10mg Codeine / 5ml Syrup in a 250 ml bottle. Swim usually takes half a bottle for his dose.

Is that sold OTC in the UK??

Some studies suggest that there are possible connections between aspartame and negative effects such as headaches, brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma.
Once ingested,aspartame breaks down into several residual chemicals such as :aspartic acid, phenylalanine, methanol,formaldehyde and formic acid.
That being said..Aspartame's a very common sweetener and it's an ingredient of a number of drinks and foods and it's branded worldwide.So if it really was that toxic and unhealthy they would have prolly banned it by now..so SWIY should be just fine.

SWIM says that SWIM has had experience with this stuff, the exact same stuff.(bigger dose)

SWIM says that this gave him an upset stomach and made him barf and said to be careful with this stuff

SWIM takes 50mg dimenhydrinate now to eliminate itching etc... to answer SWIAle it's OTC in Spain not the UK, SWIM is resident in Spain ATM.
