the comedown from pills
first of all... please allow me to apologise if this has been discussed elsewhere. i did have a look through but couldn't find a relevant thread.
anyway, SWIM's friend has told him about an anti-depressant kids are taking before they take ecstasy. does anyone know anything about 5htp supplements? apparently they "make you feel so much better and stop you gurning". something to do with the drug allowing your brain to get its serotonin levels back up much quicker so the comedown doesn't leave you so exhausted. if someone could enlighten me on this subject i'd really appreciate it. SWIM has always just dealt with the comedown and smoked a few joints and put on relaxing music for it. |

SWIM has dabbled with 5htp, both as a preload and postload. SWIM is not a huge ecstasy user, tending to space out his sessions- to monthly intervals at the very least. This should mean that SWIMS comedowns were not especially severe in the first place.
Yet SWIM has found that the negative after effects are close to zero with about 200mg 5htp. Take this with some vitamins and when you wake you will feel damn close to normal. SWIM has also tried pre-loading with 5HTP. SWIM pre-loaded a total of 500mg 5htp, with over 4 hours between taking the last capsule and dosing the MDMA. IN SWIM's experience before he dropped he was feeling rather hot, and would not reccomend this dosage of 5htp, perhaps 300-400mg. Yet when he started to come up he was rushing at a particularly intense level. SWIM found that his experience was similar to his first and very, very euphoric. It also had other subjective effects. SWIM found that the experience was much more psychedelic, with SWIM observing cartoon figures in the sky and a wasp transforming from a wasp to a bee to a fly all due to SWIMS imagination. All of this was very enjoyable. It should be noted however that even if you feel better sooner thanks to 5htp, this is not an excuse to do MDMA more frequently. Serotonin is a chemical restored slowly and you should always space out your sessions with (in SWIMS opinion) a month or so of non-usage. MDMA also gives better sessions the less it is used. |

swim has a friend that bands on about l-tyrosine as a preloader, swim will be testing this tonight. Apparently it gives a nice rush to the come up and also goes down well with 5-HTP in the morning.
Although after re-reading the original post swim doesn't think there is any way of avoiding the 'crash' that comes directly after the roll. Swims is normally not too bad, hes more or less knackered from bouncing off the walls more than anything else. The 5-HTP and l-tyrosine tends to stop the Tuesday blues and returns you to 'normal' faster (just not that fast!) A quiet spot with friends and a joint in the morning is the best thing, nothing will beat it. Then a few hours sleep a hot shower and a meal followed by some more 5Htp and l-tyrosine before an early night. |

i hope swiy enjoys it! if swim can get hold of some mdma tonight he will be a happy boy, as he is exercising good practise and hasn't had any in about 2 months now.

very good idea- SWIM has not had any for over three months and is saving it for a special occasion- much better that way (with less come-down and tolerance)

l-tyrosine give a rushing sensation to the come up for swim and his friends.
The current MDMA swim has has a slow incline (which is frustrating) with waves of euphoria before the real hit comes, it will then last for a good 4 hours with an additional 40mg topup and a nice easy slow decline to baseline over the 5-6 hours. The l-tyrosine (200mg) was taken alongside the MDMA (120mg) and was confirmed by all (to be tested again next month) that it increased the come up, not so much made it faster but more pronounced with a speedy caffeine buzz. Once the MDMA was in full swing the buzz left and the happy go lucky MDMA took over. The comedown was less pronounced in this case. |

Id advise taking the anti-depressant as you start to come down. St Johns Wort is also good the day after! And Chamomile tea!

so swim had their first experience of 5thp alongside ecstasy last night/this morning...
the capsule was dropped about 2 hours before hitting up the first pill. he was trying to figure out whether it was the 5thp suppliment or all the crappy food he'd eaten that made him need the toilet so frequently... anyway. the come up was much much sooner than imagined. after about 35 minutes he felt the classic belly tingle and pupils were beginning to dilate. the evening was intense, as petethemeat suggested, swim also experienced psychadellic effects. swim cannot figure out whether the 5thp or the pills is the reason it has taken so long to come down. he can't be too sure right now, but he thinks he could very well still be wired. any insight into if 5thp prolonges the effects? |

I came across SWIM who had the perfect explenation. It's not the MDMA that gives SWIY the loved up feeling. It's the serotonine in your brain that causes that. The MDMA will wear out your reserves, and that gives you the big comedown, especcially on heavy pills.
In Holland you can get L-Tryptofane at any smarthop or pharmacist. Don't know about the availability in the UK. It's a natural herb that's in cheese too. L-Tryptofase reacts with vitamine B6 in your body, making serotonine out of it. There are 2 ways of using L-Triptofane. Post-loading: after MDMA / XTC use, take one 600mg L-T pill before you go asleep and take a good night rest. Repeat this the next day to avoid tuesday blues. The comedown will be way more manageble, and avoids the dodgy feeling. You can also preload if SWIY is using XTC more often than once every 6 weeks (the time your body needs to build up new serotonine reserves the natural way). Take 3 days before your use of XTC one 600mg L-T every day. Eat healthy drink a lot of water. The best thing is of course to pre- and postload. Better is it if you combine the postload with high doses multi-vitamines (lets say 2x the amount you daily need, with at least 1000mg Vitamin C) and anti-oxidants that helps to detox your body. SWIM know what he is talking about. He is very committed to his clients ;-) |
