How does LSD get into the bloodstream?
Well the title says it all realy. I know LSD comes in many forms but swim was wondering how LSD tabs got into the blood stream, does it go into the stomach or does it go through your skin or your tung? If it does go through your skin then could you just stick one to your skin and get an LSD experience? Would the experience be any different?

Re: How does LSD get into the bloodstream?
SWIM has accidentally dosed SWIMself with liquid on his finger. Its not as potent but you will feel it. SWIM believes it is carried through the blood vessles in the tongue, and since there are more available/circulation is better there there it reaches you more effectively.

Re: How does LSD get into the bloodstream?
LSD, like oh so many chemicals, can be absorbed anywhere on/in the body such on the skin, in the mouth and in the stomach. It seeps into the blood vessels where it is carried to the brain, etc.

Re: How does LSD get into the bloodstream?
SWIM once fell asleep on several hits of blotter and woke up with a decent buzz going on. He didn't get as high as he would have if he had eaten them but it worked.

Re: How does LSD get into the bloodstream?
Sublingual digestion, like that of a blotter in the mouth, relies on exposed capillaries to carry the chemical to the brain. The bloodstream has openings in the form of these capillaries all over the body, but in higher concentrations in areas like the mouth, nose, and rectum. These areas all make for extremely effective absorption compared to the low concentration of exposure on most exposed skin (as is reflected by the commentary...). Accordingly, better absorption relies on higher areas of capillary concentration, so areas like the rectum are more efficient than the mouth, which in turn is more effective than the skin. Even sublingual digestion is only partially efficient though... see here: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=43160 For the most effective dosing, the stomach reduces ionization to 0%.

Re: How does LSD get into the bloodstream?
swim wants to know if the amount of time the tab is spent in your mouth has anything to do with potency...
swim didn't think it would, but one time swim left the blotter on swim's tongue for about 3 minutes before swallowing and had a trip which lasted about 10 hours. then the next time swim just swallowed the blotter straight up after about 1 second and the trip last about 6 hours and wasn't near as strong... it could also be that the second incident was only 3-4 days after the first incident, and swim may not have waited long enough for another hit. |
