Sexual - Help dealing with sex drive conflict? (Paroxetine)

Hi,

I have been taking paxil now for a couple of months for social anxiety and the one thing that is just KILLING me (at 40mg's a day) is the "lack" of sex drive.

You see, the thing is, I don't really "lack" a sex drive. I want to have sex even more than before, and I get intense cravings while doing intimate things like dancing or flirting etc. But once I try to have sex, I just can't get off. I can go and go and go for hours but then I just can't blow. This leads to my sex drive gradually building and building and building until the point where I feel like I'm going to explode, and NOT out of my penis, I might add.

So I thought maybe if I was alone I would have more luck (masturbating), but that didn't work either.



i SHUDDER when I think of this never subsiding until I get off paxil.


So, my question.

Does anyone have any advice or tips on how to deal with this, and hopefully how to succesfully relieve myself?

When I used to take the stuff I had the same thing. Fortunately it went away after about three or four months...

I know my doctor at the time asked if I had had any such effects and that he mentioned wellbutrin as an alternative... wish I had more to give you. Give it another few weeks and talk to your doc in the meantime. Best of luck to you.

OH! I forgot, don't know if this had anything to do with it but around the time I got my sex drive back I had started bicycling (aerobic exercise) for about an hour a day. Much literature says that exercise will improve sex drive. If nothing else it won't hurt to try.

I've read of Ritalin being used to help with sexual problems caused by SSRIs.

that sucks... SWIM has an increased sexual drive on paxil 20 mg but SWIM can still ejaculate, although it does take a little while longer

i'm on lexipro, and i've been having the same problem! i've been getting intense cravings as well, but i just can't orgasm. i called my doctor, and she said the chemical change in your brain caused by whatever ssri you're on is like a giant orgasm for your brain. once your brain gets used to the new chemical structure, things will get better.

This is a long shot, but go and see a chiropractor. Get him to do a full body adjustment, and see the difference.

swim had the same problem.. swim tried everything and finally swim just stopped taking his paxil one week later... omg what an orgasm.
swim was never able to defeat the whole not getting off thing until he stopped taking it.

this really makes the girls feel bad.. if they can not get you off they feel as if they did it wrong or are not pretty and soon rumors go around like why doesnt he get off maybe hes gay.
