Any tips on how to control my salvia Divinorum trip
Salvia trip come so fast that i moment i blow out the smoke i can start feeling my head being rush. Is there any way i can control my trip so i can enjoy it more instead of freaking out.

umm not really salvia when smoked tends to be like that, the only thing one could do is to lower the dose of the said smoked material. being in the right set (mindset) and setting (environment which its taken) tends to help.

Maybe your lab rat needs to research less intense psychedelics, or at least take them in a way that the come on is not so quick...sometimes the rushing feeling from smoked psychedelics is too intense for some lab rats. For DMT even experienced users will take a second thought before taking that third hit.

Yes and no. Swim finds the only thing he can do is change his environment. He would like to say that music can have a huge impact on the experience. He reccomends throwing on Zelda for SNES and letting it play the light world music on pause (Or DL an mp3 of it). Really it's all about controlling the lab rat's environment. Because if the lab rat tries to control the experience, this is what tends to freak him out. Moreover, if you find that your lab rat cannot avoid freaking out no matter the environement, then you should really consider your lab rat's disposition. THis could be pointing out some intense and deep seated fears or angers the rat has.

SWIM recommends letting the salvia take hold of, and to let it take you somewhere. You are scared and fighting it. Don't. This will just make you feel uncomfortable.

There is no sure way to control a psychadelic trip - especially salvia.
Make sure your enviroment is safe, have a sitter, make sure you are in a good frame of mind - that's about all you can do. If you still have fear/anxiety - don't use salvia. |

SWIM really, really loves music on Salvia. Listening to familiar music is not only enjoyable in itself, but also seems to ground him if he overshoots the mark a bit.
To amplify the trip, he likes psychadelic music (esp. Saucerful of Secrets), and to calm down in the afterglow, twangy "country rock" : "Dead Flowers" or similar. A stereo capable of high amplification is a "must" for his psychic explorations. |

SWIY could try chewing the leaves instead of smoking them. This won't be as intense, but coming up will not be as fast as smoking it.

but if the said person chewing salvia in that way would then experience a longer duration had they not smoked it which would have been shorter. however less intense i guess which is the area u were hoping for. not always a good thing something on someone's mind that extra bit longer if they are not happy with the experience.

The only thing I can advise would be the same as everyone else.
SWIM meditates before salvia, and will always do it in a comfortable setting. SWIY just needs to remember to let the teacher plant take you, rather than resist her. |

As far as a comfortable setting goes, I'd get a bit more specific and say to have a dark, quiet room, empty of other people besides your sitter. Make sure your sitter is someone you trust, and make sure he has a solid understanding about the substance and your concerns. For SWIM, My biggest reactionary anxiety from salvia comes from the feeling of having to interact with people. Sort of an acute social pressure, and a feeling that he doesn't want to have to explain himself or interact with anyone in any way during the experience. This might not be your issue, but if you can be aware of what feelings cause you anxiety during your experience, you can better explain it to your sitter and possibly find a workaround.

Your best bet would be to 'not' try and control it. This can only lead to frustration (which seems to be quite a common theme to Salvia.) My neighbourhood shaman informs me that he finds he can go with the trip much easier if their are the least distractions around him, and such will only smoke salvia when there is no noise or light in the room.

Swim listens to the radio when he uses salvia. It seems to keep him lucid so he understands that the music is real and the trip is something to enjoy.

Swim has smoked salvia many times, and SWIM freaks out a little every time. It comes with the territory of extreme psychedelics. I think the only thing that will help is experience, the more you do it, and get used to it- the better it will be.

Swim think that this is impossible tro control salvia trip. For all the time swim take sally, he just follow the direction the trip takes, and do no more. Sally is always a great experience anyway.

RSX, I don't think the trip is meant to be controlled, but I'll offer some advice here and let me know if it helps to make the trip a little more pleasant.
The first time I dosed, I did two quick hits of 10x, and held each in for at least 15 to 20 seconds. The stuff hit me before I even knew it, and I was thinking that I was too high. It was not unpleasant, but uncomfortable. The next night I repeated the two hits, holding each in for 15 to 20 seconds. This time my heart rate got jacked up so high that I felt myself vibrating with each heartbeat. This really scared me because I normally have high blood pressure, and again I felt as if I were too high. Since I have experience with Zen meditation and yoga, the next night I reduced the dosage to one hit of 10X, holding it in for 20 seconds. And I did the hit in the middle of a 20-minute meditation exercise in which I lie on my back on the floor, and concentrate on my breathing. Before I inhaled the smoke, I meditated, focusing on my breathing in, very slowly, trying not to make any noise. I continued with my exhalations, very slowly, trying to ground my attention on my inhaling and exhaling, while trying to breathe very slowly, and think about nothing else but my breathing. After about 20 minutes, I took in the smoke, counted in my head to 20 and then let it out slowly. I lied back down and resumed my meditation. The trip was much more enjoyable, and the drug's effects incorporated itself into my breathing. My heart rate did not go sky high, and so I figured that my previous experiments were uncomfortable due to taking in too much smoke. One hit is all you need. Relax your mind and body before you dose. Meditation is the best way. Now I do this every night during my wind-down meditation exercise. |
