The Fabled Cannabis Cigar
A little while ago, whilst browsing on-line for rolling techniques to satisfy a purely academic interest, I came across instructions as to the creation of a cannabis cigar. It seemed fascinating, clearly a very powerful intoxicant. Here's how it is made (article taken from www.theweedfarmer.com )
A pure cannabis cigar is perhaps the ultimate joint and a must for the rich, famous and well connected. Using exotic, hard-to-get ingredients this can be a hard one to get together. 1) First, find yourself a thai stick, (cured buds tied around a bamboo sliver) Remove any thread and carefully coat it with liquid cannabis resin oil. 2) Wrap the coated stick with small, uncured, 'top' leaves, taking care to remove any stems. 3) Secure the leaves with thread and coat with more liquid resin. Leave the cigar to dry in a dark, dry and warm place for a day or so. 4) Remove the thread and repeat the entire process. Use progressively larger cannabis leaves until the cigar is suitably fat. 5) Use large 'sun' leaves to seal the cigar, add a final coat of cannabis resin and secure with more thread. 6) Leave the finished cigars to dry. In two to three weeks it should be ready to smoke. 7) When drying is complete, remove the thread and carefully pull the bamboo sliver from inside the cigar to create a smoking tube. Store your cigars in a dry air-tight container - the longer you leave them, the better (and stronger) they will get. The article contains pictures as well. I wanted to ask if anyone has even seen one of these cigars, whether they are worth what seems to be a great deal of time, effort and, of course, materials? It seems to me something only someone with access to a whole plant would be able to create. It looks to me more like a Toker's dream rather than a practical reality. Re: The Fabled Cannabis Cigar
A blunt uses a pre-rolled cigar casing - either by removing the tobacco from inside a regular cigar or by buying a specific cigar skin. Obviously including tobacco leaves (from which most cigar casings are made) changes the purity of the experience. More than that the cigar is 100% cannabis, and soaked in cannabis oil. It can be stored for a long time to increase, rather than decrease, potency and there is a certain something about the amount of time, craftsmanship and effort that is put into the cannabis cigar that just makes it a more rarefied item.

Re: The Fabled Cannabis Cigar
Totally awesome! SWIM heard of a person who mixed hash oil with their keif (sp?) to make a kind of "patty" consistency
But SWIMs gonna try this when materials become avail

Re: The Fabled Cannabis Cigar
For those that want to know, like yamman13, what the difference is between the cigar and a blunt I found a rather elegant video demonstrating how to make a blunt which is hosted here on Youtube. This can be compared to the written instructions I included.

Re: The Fabled Cannabis Cigar
So how does cannabis cigar + time = stronger and more potent cigar?

Re: The Fabled Cannabis Cigar
I would imagine that they are probably incorrect in that assertion - it is difficult to prove as I can find no one with experience of it. However I can imagine that the cannabis oil is more able to permeate the leaves and bud to a greater degree and thus make the smoke smoother and more consistent. Perhaps there are other mechanisms that could potentate the experience (because that it is assessed by, individual experience) - I have no idea, I am not a chemist. Perhaps you will be able to set me straight, but my sole purpose in making this thread was to inform others of an idea and garner information about it, I do not necessarily assert that the claims made in the article are fact.

Re: The Fabled Cannabis Cigar
That's really what I was trying to get at, whether "potent" ment stronger effects or just stronger taste and maybe a smoother burn.
Tetrahydrocannabinol decomposes into cannabinol over time, more so under certain conditions.. Some studies have shown that extracts can lose potency of up to 41% per year. Of course storage has plenty to do with how long your bud or extracts last such as light, temperature and air oxidation. Swim would recommend that the cannabis cigars be smoked within three months in optimal storage conditions* for best results as the potency would only decrease from there. *Vacuum sealed bags or something similar.
