Dose - Liberty Cap Dosage

Hello,

Thanks to this forum swims had a pretty decent year finding some liberty caps.

Swim and co had 30 mushies each the other week in a delicious honey n lemon tea and thought this would be enough to trip- although swim was very wrecked and there was a bit of a "neon tinge" to lots of things in his living room, they didnt actually trip or hallucinate...

Everyone measures doses in grams but swim doesnt have any scales...
On average how many dry liberty caps is 1g? Im just after a rough idea!

Swim plans on taking about 50 caps at the weekend, but wanted an idea of suggested doses (in caps and g) for a trip.

Sorry- I know swim should just get scales but hes super broke!

find a scale... maybe swims plant selling friend may have one... or something like that. the only way you can accurately say what's a proper dose... considering not looking... my cat can't say what it thinks is an even near rough estimate dose... my cat's suggestion is to take a small amount and slowly build up till swim is at a proper level that the trip feels good.

but look into getting a scale. it'll save alot of trouble on journeys

YEs! Scales are not just for dealers. Shell out the extra money and make sure you get a highquality accurate one.

50 caps sounds like a huge amount already. Liberty caps are relatively small, but surely 50 of them would be at least several grams of mushrooms... And liberty caps are one of the more potent strains, almost twice as potent as cubensis by weight. If 50 doesn't work your friend might have something very wrong going on.

Get a scale. Your friend can find one accurate to 0.1 gram for $20-$30 online. It should solve the problem of not knowing mushroom dosages.

50 may or may not be a high dose. Even Liberty caps can vary greatly in strength depending on size (and they do REALLY vary in size), age and where they have grown. Also remember that your own state at the time of ingestion can have a profound effect on the experience and we are not just talking physical factors like when and how much you last ate (obviously effects will be stronger and felt more quickly on an empty stomach).

So, unfortunately your question is virtually impossible to answer. If you are not going to utilise a scale (which even then can not guarantee dosage), then I suggest you work your way up slowly until you find the required dosage. You can always take more, but you can't take them back once the world around you starts to dissolve.

My first trip with Liberty Caps was 22 years ago and it was awesome!!! However, I did 150 excellent quality, freshly picked a couple of hours previously lib caps. I since found out that other 'normal' people were having full blown trips on 20 -30!

I was lucky in that I found a field 3miles from home that was a goldmine! Was picking 1,000 an hour and coming home with (between 2 of us) 2 carrier bags full. However, one big mistake we made was that we overpicked, we should also have flicked the heads to help distribute spores as the next year, it was like a dessert, it was really heartbreaking and I felt real guilty and stupid at the greed shown the year previous (we did lines and picked everything).

Oh, one thing we noticed was that some of the Liberty caps had a a bluish tinge to their tops and these were particularly potent!!!!

20 - 30 is supposed to be adequate brewed by simmering in a saucepan and mashin with a potato masher but liquidising would be best and then gentle simmering. Tea was added and poured through a sieve . My strongest brew was 1,000 and I got little off of it due to a massive tolerance that had been built up. Watch out for the tolerance it builds quickly.

Ahh yes, responsible picking is a must if you wish to avoid the annual cupboard being bare. Tip the cap to mother nature and avoid over-picking.

Also forgot to mention that when cooking/brewing it is important to note that excessive heat breaks down psilocybin and psilocin and therefore reduces potency. Grinding first and using powder ensures you use all of the raw material. The yak informed me that he prefers to make a mushroom hot chocolate to mask the taste and prevent any potential reverse throat journies.

SWIM had his first trip on Friday night, he had about 80 liberty caps (around 13-14G g some wet some dry on the advice of a mate) in a brew, he drank this in one go on a empty stomach and then proceeded to smoke a joint of indica weed.

SWIMS world quickly dissolved around him, the first part of the trip was the scariest 2-3 hours of SWIMS life , he's glad he did it but regrets taking his Friends advice and consuming so many on his first trip.

He will save the specifics for the experiences thread but a few bits of advice

1/ Dont do it on your own
2/ do it in a quite and comforting surrounding
3/ have some music that calms you on hand
4/ I am not sure if it would have helped SWIM but some Valiums put aside might be a good idea if things get out of control

Swim likes to go up the dublin mountains to collect libs.
Swim usually goes alone or with one friend, early on a sunday morning.
After the hunt he enjoys building a small, safe, campfire and puts a couple of sausages in foil into the fire to cook.
Swim then puts them into a roll (like a hotdog) adds ketchup and roughly 25 Libs. Swim claims it is a perfect beginners dose, and enough for anyone to comfortably enjoy a morning over looking the city from the hills.

50 is a good amount. My first time was with about 50 or 60. It was intense but not overwhelming. 60 weighs roughly 2g, but of course does depend on the size etc.
