suboxone hell
OK so SWIM was prescribed 16mg of suboxone a day for H withdrawl. 3 days went by and SWIM was ok then on the forth day swim sleeps in until 10o'clock. SWIM doses first thing and after 2 hours realizes it is NOT working. 5 minutes 'till noon and SWIM is in worse withdrawls ever, worse than coming off heroin. Hit swim like a brick wall. Called SWIMs nurse and she told him to take a valium and 4mg of suboxone. 6 hours later SWIM feels almost normal...very random strange thing that happened in SWIMS opinion.
So what SWIM is mainly wondering is when SWIM started taking suboxone his doc told SWIM to wait until withdrawls begin before dosing suboxone. SO what SWIM is wondering is if he has been taking suboxone for the last 3 days, should he wait each time for withdrawls to creep up? Will taking suboxone ontop of suboxone before withdrawing send him into violent withdrawls? That is the only thing SWIM can think of what happened today. Although SWIM did feel shitty this morning when he took it. This is very confusing to SWIM why this is going on. Any ideas? |

Re: suboxone hell
SWIM would guess that SWIU is feeling the antagonist effects of buprenorphine. Basically, the Suboxone will treat some of the withdrawels, while pushing you more quickly into them. Many doctors simply prescribe 2-4mg tablets and say "take 1 every two hours until you feel okay" and then you know what you're ceiling dose is. After you feel 'okay', many users cannot reach any greater effect, especially if SWIU is used to stronger opioids, such as diamorphine/heroin.
SWIM suggests sticking it out for the long haul, you won't regret it. Deal with the withdrawels (SWIM might add a benzodiazepine for a few days only, to aid in the withdrawels) and wait for buprenorphine's antidepressant effect to kick in. And yes, eventually, it will feel like an opiate antidepressant, so be patient. Also, the benzodiazepine may not be safe for many people, but SWIM's psychiatrist prescribed buprenorphine alongside 4mg alprazolam/day as he has severe panic disorder. He feels that this helped GREATLY with his oxycodone withdrawels, and thinks that buprenorphine is a great step in fighting opioid addiction. He can no longer afford buprenorphine, and buys tramadol from online pharmacies, and finds the two to be fairly similar in feeling. Not great, but not bad - SWIM will take that over being sick or being desperate to score anyday. |
