Best time to pick Amanita muscaria

When is the best time? Some say when the mushroom cap is upturned and the mushroom is sporating. Other say you get the best effects from those that are completly dried on the stalk. They are golden in color as opposed to mostly yellow/some red/a bit golden sporating ones. I suppose the worst ones are the young red ones that look most beautiful. If i pick them too you early, even when dried, they still have some red in them, especially in the middle of the cap.
Which brings me to another question, what is the color of muscimol and ibotenic acid? Muscimol golden, ibotenic acid red?

amanita muscaria can be found from july to october, and you'll probably find some quite easily from august to september...
best time to go hunting for it:
it has been raining for a few days (high humidity) followed by a few days of full sun (heat)
humidity + heat ->shrooms pop up everywhere.

I guess you didnt understand my question or you just read the title. I wanted to know what is the best time for a single specimen to be picked. When does the ibotenic acid/muscimol level reach its highest? How mature shold the mushroom be?
Btw over here their season is very short, from late september till the end of october.

was reading on erowid that best to to pick is early in season when there real fresh, cant confim that though the only ones ive picked was right at the end of season and they got alittle moldy since i was slow on drying.. still pondering wether or not i should eat because of that

SWIMMY ALSO picked some this year. he found about 30, some he let grow some more
[3 days or so] before he finally stuffed them in his coat. all grew in busy city area.
swim hasnt tried em yet. but thinks he knows about moment of picking: when the shroom LOOKS GOOD it can be picked. so that means: healty, nice, ok-looking. small/young ones can be picked, but swiy will need more for a dose. swim thinks he knows that they have a mol fixed %age of psychedelic material, he never heard ANY story bout old ones being better or yellow ones or whatever. avoid old s....s with cones like broken umbrella n maybe let smalls grow more n then pick em [swim didnt have rival
pickers he found out].
tho lil worry bout some shrooms had a peculiar smell [not very strong] n after a coupla days swim deduced it must dogpiss-smell. could this affect his tripping he wondered.

In November SWIM picked some Amanita muscaria's. Three smallish caps made SWIM feel really really relaxed and didnt trip out at all. The same season SWIM picked a huge 25g dried cap taken 10gs gave a very pleasant euphoric relaxed state.
Mushrooms picked in the spring are much more potent in psychedelic material and a lot less euphoric. If you mixed the two types of highs im sure it would be a amazing experience.
