Experiences - Trip Reports: Bad Trips from Magic Mushrooms

Alright, I'm about to share a really messed up trip. The other night I was at a party and had only 2 grams of shrooms. Along with that i had alot of beer and smoked some weed. Now early in the night things were't going to bad. In fact I felt great. I actually felt like i was a part of the stars. Later i went inside and thats when things started to get bad. It started with me confessing my love to a girl who I had minimal feelings for. Then I started to worry that my cats would die if my mother found out. Then I thought god and Jesus were out to get me becausei took drugs. It only got worse from there. I started groping every girl in sight and then I got naked and grabbed some girls breasts. Then I went on a couch and started masturbating in front of everyone. This resulted in people trying to throw me out. While I was locked out I got terrified and could not figure out at all why the door would not open (it was locked) so I decided to punch though the window. then i received several punches to the face and was eventually brought back to my car. I thought I was trapped in there for eternity and became very scared. I started breaking stuff and kicked the windshield which put a few cracks in. i wondered back into the house when everyone was gone and felt like i was away from reality. i wondered into the bathroom and tried tofigured out what happened to my face.when stuff started to feel real again i saw the damage i caused and freaked out. later on people filled me in on the details. now, like I said I only took two grams. However I do have alot of anxieties and bouts of depression from time to time and people say that can cause bad trips. but people are saying since i only took two i shouldn't blame the shrooms and that i was an unstable person. Now I'm pretty confused and am having problems leaving the house. All the stuff I did is so unlike me.

Apparently psychedelics can bring about latent psychological problems, so I don't see why they couldn't intensify problems you already have. I've only taken mushrooms once, but I think with anything heavier than alcohol or weed, you should have a really supportive group of people around you for the trip. Nature usually makes for good feelings, but being in a house with people you might not like will obviously make things worse. By the way, smoking weed and drinking alcohol while on shrooms or any other hallucinogen can make your experience so much more unpredictable and frightening. Shrooms don't usually make people violent, but alchol can, so maybe it was that.


The bottom line is: don't take shrooms if they make you insane!

Point well taken. The only mushrooms i'll be taking from now on will be on my pizza or steaks.

Wow, that is really crazy. I always stay away from large groups of people, except in some occasions, like if i am comfertable with all the people and so on/so forth. When i did shrooms i was with like 6 good friends, but i hardly tripped at all, no visuals whatsoever, only tons of luaghter

I tripped so bad on those I haven't done them in like 12 years...never eat 3/4 of an eighth of shrooms and expect to maintain in an unfamiliar group- it's not possible...with drugs ususally a little goes a long way. I have learned this as of late, though my drug of choice I do nice piles of just to make myself happy, if I'm alone I have the perfect oppurtunity to just do a big old ish, using my judgement on how much I need, not having to worry about anyone seeing me buzz hard, or asking me constantly if I'M O.K. If I wasn't O.K., I would call help, fool.

I haven't had a bad trip like that. But my brother did, was quiet similair to yours with nudity etc.


I don't get like that because I am picky with who I do drugs with, only real close friends.

Am I the only one that thinks bad trips on shrooms is rediculis?(just like that spelling) I can tell you that no matter what the dosage of shrooms I could never have a bad trip, setting doesnt matter for me or anything. It is all your state of mind if you think the shrooms are strogner than your mind then you will have problems, you are in control at all times not the drug remmember that. It is how people think of hallucinagens I have never one had a bad trip on any drug and have done shrooms tons of times, lsd, DXM at super high doses ( I have had soem crazy trips you can read about udner the DXM forums but they didn't even freak me out to the verge of a bad trip) I have gotten busted by my parents while tripping, in a car wreck, put in jail, etc. But I am always at peace in side and I don't let anything get to me. I was still having a good trip when I was in jail tripping! they celled me with some drunk guy they put in there they found on the street and I told him I was tripping ballz showed him my pupils, he was like HELL YEA.

The most shrooms I ever did at once was a quarter ounce, I also had half a mickey of Jamaican rum and weed, it wasn't scary at all, I through up but hey I also ate some pizza pokets (bad idea). I cant see having bad trips being related to depression, I am quite often depressed and have scars to prove it but Ive never had a bad trip. Meditation is always good just mellow out. Does any one else find the sunrise after a night of drugs sad, I do.

this relates to this past summer, when, despite my best knowledge, i did the stupid thing..and took shrooms when i was in a very pissed off, unhappy mood...from what i remember i felt very funny, walking around in circles, things just did not seem right. i am a long time shroom fan, and it never felt this wrong before...and it only got worse...at my peak i was sitting outside to get some fresh air around 2 am..i saw the moon and i heard it talking to me, and plotting evil at me..mars was also in the sky this time at night, and it started moving in circles around the moon, they than both wispered to the starts to attack me, and i saw stars moving around in random patterns, and they were all wispering to me that they will kill me. than the shadows in the night of my back yard, and the nearby woods started to creep up onto my porch...scared out of my mind..i went to my room and layed down...there was a fan buzzing loudly and it started to tell me to choke my dad with a belt while he was sleeping...i decided enough was enough and i went to the washroom...what seemed like an hour later i was a bit more calm..and i popped on the two towers...and that distraction was enough for me to forget about the voices in my head......this was my only negative experience with mushrooms ever..





moral of the story-when they say do not shroom if your mind is not ready....do not shroom!

I agree with the moral of the story.


I have witnessed it, I was one of only two people not taking shrooms one night (I wasn't up for it) in a group of about16and I watched everyone else have a bad trip, the mood had been weird before everyone took them. Everyone said afterwards the all had a bad trip. One mate even sat in our fire we had going!!!!


It's great to look back and realise I was so stoned and now (and at the time) I think it was scary but also so funny, the whole night that is


Shroom carefully everyone.

Good company
Don't do it with anyone you have tension with. (may lead to mood swings)
Envoirnment is also important

I had a bad trip (also last summer) when my parents were on holiday for two weeks. I only remember I didn't slept for ten days, the food they bought me for the two weeks was still there when they came back and I though my life was over, I don't know what I was doing the nine days before my crash but my gf stayed with me the night before my parents came home, I saw stuff everywhere, couldn't breathe or move normally and my gf didn't help, she made it worser! she was talking about her job when I was trying to breathe and laughin' with things damn nothing was funny in my eyes. after hours trying to sleep, I slept for one hour, I felt so f*cked and told one of my friends I'd never take drugs again (I wish...) in the afternoon my parents were home, my mum almost started crying when she looked at me, after this I'm always trying to sleep every night and eat enough... never again.

A few weaks ago I took shrooms again for the ... time...I was with 6 guys who took shrooms and we were at the place of another mate... He had his girlfriend there as well whom i didn't know and who didn't know we were on shrooms... I didn't like to be around her at all... It kinda made me go into a bad trip... after a few hours the girl went home and everything started to be okay from then...

I have had 2 bad trips and I learned to respect the shrooms because thinking you're death isn't cool



shrooms are very powerfull, I had 0.7 gr of dried Copelandia Cyanescens
and it was the best trip of my life, Once I toke 1gr of "dried"
P.Cubensis and I had the worst bad trip of my life.

It is as you guys have
said, tripping in a unfamilair setting with the wrong state of
mind can give you a bad trip easily. But I think that part
of matthew1138</span>'s problem was alchohol</span>.
Whilst you can get drunk whilst tripping and enjoy it, getting drunk
and then taking any drug is inadvisable! A friend of mine took acid
after drinking a lot of beer and he had a very</span> uncomfortable trip.</span>

Don´t take it personal, but persons having this kind of bad trips are the persons I avoid.


Like robocop said, you are in control.


This behaviour came from you, not from the shroom/drug.


Getting free of inhibitions, nudity, daring to do things we normally don´t do and sex oriented feelings are normal reactions when in drugs, but YOU are in control.


The drug is an excuse your mind is using to do things you want to experience but you don´t dare to do.


I have taken shrooms (cubensis) without any bad experience.


How old are you? How do you behave when drunk?

I agree, I can't imagine having a bad trip on shrooms, every time I've done them I feel completely in control. Sure you do some things you wouldn't normally, but ultimately ifI need to do it,I can regain control of myself, even on high doses.

SWIM has only had one bad trip, he had taken WAY too much and got sick, while laying on the bathroom floor after puking his guts out everything went a tinge of red, he felt him self melt into the floor then continue to fall into hell (at least in his mind) this was only for about 15min but it felt like an eternity.

as you all know, shrooms affect ones emotions on varying levels. 2 of
my friends and i split an 8'th of shrooms once when i was in a bad mood
because it was all we had. just make sure that you're in a positive
state of mind when you take them. while my friends were having fun i
was thinking of ways to kill myself for three hours, and then i was
ready to kill my friends the rest of the time because they said that i
should leave the 2 of them all of my stuff in my will, that really
pissed me off.

have never heard of anybody doing anything like that on psilocybin
mushrooms. i have seen people having bad trips and they usually just
get really frightened and try and hide or soemtihng. not like jerking
off on people and trying to destroy shit.

I have seen someone behaving in a sexually inapropriate way after
drinking heavily and taking acid. Someone else I knew wandered about
naked covered in shaving cream, after shaving his eyebrows off, after a
prolonged period of stimulants and pyschedelic abuse.

dident kick in for about 2 to 3 hours and when it did it wasnt worth it it made me feel some what parnoid and i felt like i was small very small liek i was close to nothen in my opin i dont like to feel small or parnoid i like to have a good time with friends and i think the shrooms i got were just a bunch of bs shrooms not worth my time and they made me wonder if i will ever do them agen.

i have never gotten frightened on bad trips, i always get med if anything negative. i guess it's just me. i am a pretty calm and hard to piss off person almost all the time. i have had about three trips where i have gotten mad, but none where i have gotten scared. i was able to control myselfaround my friends physically, but not verbally. it's just the way i am. the emotions i don't let control me sober, come out on shrooms

It seems like you know how to draw the line when it comes to an anxiety trip. It's a good skill to have. I learned how to do this too but mainly with acid. Bizarrely enough, I find a high dose of mushrooms to be more confusing. Guess I'm not used to them because I did them for the first time in about six months the other day and I was never really into them much in the first place.

SWIM's gonna do some philosopher's stones next weekend, does anyone know of them or have tried them?
