Art and cannabis?

Does anyone enjoy drawing / painting / etc after smoking? Swim finds that swim mostly comes up with concepts while blazed, but swim's actual drawing ability is a little out of whack. Most of the drawings swim does while high are doodles anyway. But here are some conceptualized while blazed drawings: (sorry for the links to swim's deviantart, but swim is not allowed to post attatchments yet... please let me know if this is not ok :-/)

My cat loves to draw when she is stoned...she has done several drawings on a drawing website and even was a runner-up for a comp. they had ..the drawing was created under the influence

Toonces enjoys art whether she is high or not, but she finds that when she is high...she does something with her vision/eyes that makes whatever she's doing looked "blended" together, therefore she ends up blending colors and whatnot according to the already blended image in her vision..so it comes out really smooth and cartoonish looking..it's an interesting style

My dog told me he loves to play/write music after smoking. He said he is sloppier when he is stoned, but is way more creative. He likes to come up with ideas after a good smoke session, then later will arrange what he has come up with.

Yeah, swim's art is definitely sloppier. Swim is also much more into the process - like each indivdual line. The process is important, but the actual result less so. As long as swiy is enjoying swiyself, it's all good.

I've allready told this story on these forums I believe, but here it is again. Swim was really high from eating pot brownies. I think it's safe to say he had a level 2 trip, what he describes fits perfectly with the description of a level 2 trip.
Anyway while he was like this he decided it would be a good idea to draw. Nothing much came from it though. He made 2 drawings, one was ok, but very vague and sketchy and very different from what he usually draws. The other drawing was nothing more but a bunch of squiggly lines. So all in all the results were pretty poor. But according to swim, the act of drawing was very fascinating. He says it was as if the sheet of paper was another dimension which he was manipulating with his pencil.

That happened a few months ago. He rarely smokes pot anymore (and in fact, he has never been a real pothead) but if he ever does pot bronies again, he's going to keep a canvas and some oil paint (or acrylic) nearby, that should bring some interesting results.

SWIM has always said the same - be it drawing or guitar/keyboard stoned makes for sloppy work, compared to sober. Stoned can give a forgetfulness of the day-to-day responsibilities that enable whimsical, creative bursts, though.

having said , i think it varies, ive seen partner create wonderful surreal pictures. He can draw jus as well being sober, but when on weed the creativity comes in flow more. LSD and psilo seem to make very close to detail inhis portraits.

Oh yeah, forgot, thedeepsleep - that is some nice work! It looks mostly done on computer, mind describing your process? Wacom tablet?

jayjohnson - thanks All those picture were created in photoshop with a wacom tablet... there's nothing too advanced, it's really just the brush tool. I've done a few commissions before, but other than that haven't made any money off of my art. Oh well.

Sure - an artist could easily just develop two or more distinct `styles.` Sober, weed high, high on meth, high on GOOD and IV'd meth, drunk, on crack, etc.

My SWIM, comparing hir sober/stoned styles, said `meh, when high, I don't like how I draw.`

Her imaginary friend, did the meth thing for a while, and found endless hours of focused time where one was too euphoric to care of things like food, sex, urinating, bill-paying, etc, that the most impressive works were done. Amazing drawings. Of course, meth giveth and then taketh away. Said imaginary friend killed herself during meth-depression, come-down, amphetamine psychosis, etc.

The people I have known who have used cannabis often find that after long periods of heavy use they are then more creative for a while. One of my friends smokes 1 eight a day for a week or so, then does art work and creative things because he finds that he is more able to think and come up with interesting concepts. He also finds that waiting until after a marijuana binge gives him the ability to draw and write more easily and correctly and he also feeds off the enegery rush he gets after a binge - he calls it his 4 day cocaine high although no actual cocaine touches his nose.
