TEK How to make an electric vaporizer.

Swim was thinking about electric vaporizers. And studied some from pictures. Swim came to the conclusion, that they are too expensive. It should be possible to make one from a solder station. And swim believe that many vaporizers are solderstations in fancy designed cases. Swim thinks, it shouldn't cost more than 50 euros. (Solder station with temperature regulation around 20-30 euro, some bowl to contain the stuff in 5-10 euro. Some rubber closing thing to keep the vapor in the bowl, some rubber hoses to get the vapor in your lungs and some thing to hold the herb in, probably something between 5 and 10 euro's) And hopefully less.

Swim will think something up. Meanwhile swim would like some input and good ideas.

A variable resistor and a nichrome wire looks promising as an adjustable source of heat.

though the firecat hasnt even made out one, but these are suggestion for safety reasons :

- Try to avoid using lead containg solder near the point where heat emits, lead fumes isnt good for sure.
- Add a fuse! (and a thermostat if possible)

not to bust swiy's bubble or anythng but vaporizers that use conduction (where the tobacco touches hot metal) don't work very well and just end up burning the tobacco at the spot where it is touching the hot metal. The only type of vaporizer worth buying/using/making uses convection to move superheated air over and through the tobacco. This produces a nearly invisible smoke and burns the tobacco entirely and evenly. These type of convection vaporizers are pretty expensive but worth it. It may be easier and cheaper to make a light bulb vaporizer (search the forums for instructions) instead
