baking soda over lime/limon juice in tea prep?
I saw a recipe on another forum and instead of adding lime/limon juice to the mix, he uses baking soda...has anyone tried this and how much is a good amount to add?

Re: baking soda over lime/limon juice in tea prep?
SWIM doesnt know about tea preparation, however baking soda does not bond to opiate molecules as some other substances do to create a "base" morphine base is made using lime calcate or lime calcite because the morphine molecule will bond to it and precipitate to the bottom of the solution etc etc, this is more for the chemistry section tho. As far as any beneficial uses for baking soda for use with opiates SWIM has heard of none. The reason for the use of lime/lemon juice in tea preparation is two fold, 1: to improve taste. and 2: because opiate molecules will bond to acids to create higher level opiate alkaloids from lower level opiate alkaloids therefor reaching the full potential of the solution in question.
hope this has helped in some way. |

Re: baking soda over lime/limon juice in tea prep?
cheers bro....yeah SWIM read a slow boil tea recipe on another site and the poster said his normal prep included a little baking soda for the higher level of opiate alkoid bonding...baking soda has a ph of 8 or 9 which is still below the threshold of destroying goodies...SWIM tried it, not sure if SWIM is sold over the lime/lemon (as it is at least of known value)...Hopefully SWIM will track down the poster that mentioned the soda, as they are quite knowledgeable based on their other posts and insight...

Re: baking soda over lime/limon juice in tea prep?
baking soda does not bond to opiates at all, that is fact. people have tried to "basify" etc with baking soda many times over only to end up finding out from places like that that it is not possible. lemon/lime is well known as DOES work 100% of the time because of acidic bonding qualities of the opiate alkaloid. If one wanted to do it in a cleaner way one would actually use citric acid.
hope this has helped. |

How much citric acid should swim use to extract alkaloids from the seeds?

Re: baking soda over lime/limon juice in tea prep?
One would not use citric acid to extract the alkaloids from said material. One would use water to extract with and one can adjust the pH of that water to 6.5 for both bonding, leveling and stomach/blood absorption properties. All opiate alkaloids are water soluble and nothing more is actually needed to achieve the desired result if one so wishes.
Hope that has helped. |
