Damiana (Turnera diffusa)
Swim has heard from some sources that Damiana is a good substitute for MJ when smoked, is this bullshit or is it the real deal?

Re: Damiana (Turnera diffusa)
All the Damania SWIM has come in contact with has been weak, but tastes good. Mild relaxation. Good to mix with other stuff but does not compare on any scale MJ.

Re: Damiana (Turnera diffusa)
Nothing can substitute Mary, marijuana is unique in it's own special way just as every other herb is. Trying to find an herb that can compare/imitate the experience that Mary brings, well, it's just not going to happen.
As for Damiana; I hear it to be an aphrodisiac as well as a very mild anxiolytic. Btw, you may want to experiment with some of the popular smoking blends going around, that or you could learn/research the individual herbs in which these blends are composed and possibly order the individual herbs that appeal to you. Here, you can check this thread: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25560 As I said though, none of these herbs/smoking blend in my opinion will imitate an authentic marijuana experience. .peace. |

Re: Damiana (Turnera diffusa)
Spice is about the closest substance to cannabis in terms of effects that swim has tried.
The OP was asking for a substitute for marijuana though, not necessarily a facsimile. Some substances are good substitutes for marijuana regardless of any divergence in effects depending on why you smoke cannabis. If one wanted the trippy aspects of being high, or the general shift in mood and sensory perception, Damiana probably wouldn't be an optimal substitution. If one just wanted the relaxed feeling MJ can provide then maybe it would work out better. Swim wouldn't care to smoke Damiana on its own generally, but it mixes fairly well with other Ethnos, or better yet, in a spliff with some cannabis. A good idea would be to check out the thread Br00klynB0y linked to in his post. |

Re: Damiana (Turnera diffusa)
Swim most recently had acquired some Damiana. Now... he likes to either let it sit in liquor for a day or two, but more commonly he likes to use it to make tea every now and then.
However most recently, for the first time, he went ahead and vaporized some and was surprised by the flavorful vapors it produced, very tasty stuff and similar to the hookah. ![]() I can definitely see a benefit in adding Daminan to an herbal blend for the sole purpose of flavoring the mix. .peace. |

Re: Damiana (Turnera diffusa)
SWIM will get some damiana tonight. Swim is mostly interested in using it as a tobacco subtitute in joints.
SWIM is a little concerned about the warning mentioned at the site where he purchased damiana. It states that damiana can cause liver damaga. Is this also the case when the damiana is smoked? Or only when consumed in a tea? Further more the responses found on the web about damiana as a tobacco substitute are quite positive and SWIM can't wait to try it. |

Re: Damiana (Turnera diffusa)
SWIM has been using Damiana as a cannabis substitue to aid in quitting cannabis. SWIM has found that smoking even in large quantities has little noticable effect. However, it tastes good to smoke and SWIM perfers it to tobacco, and has been making "joints" out of it as SWIM finds that the process of smoking a joint is relaxing in itself and having this substitute has been a great help in abstaining from cannabis.
