Drug info - Mushroom/LSD Cross Tolerance

Hey, SWIM is about to do shrooms and SWIM'S wants to do acid probably a week after, maybe 2. He's wonderin whether the shrooms will develop a resistance/tolerance against the acid, since they're both alike. Not sure whether they trigger the same receptors in the brain??
and the shrooms experience is his first time. SWIM's only experience currently is DXM and marijuana.

Shrooms are cross-tolerant with LSD and some other psychedelics. I'm not sure, but I read that two weeks will probably be OK.

there is a tolerance of about 3-5 days where one should fast from 5-HT2A receptor type drugs.

give some space in between your trips to reflect and each one will not only be better because you have eliminated the tolerance but also because you've gained more insight into tripping and gave time to reflect.

I'm in agreement with the crowd. 2 weeks should be more than enough time for a body to be rid of any tolerance, especially cross-tolerance. SWIM has sucessfully used acid two less than one week after a shroom trip.

yo whats up guys. I've been given the opportunity to do acid today and mushrooms tomorrow but i've never done them consecutively. Does anyone know if the next days trip will be as intense and how bad the comedown is after all of that?

The comedown is not bad,you may experience a less visual trip and its generally said to wait a week to ensure full effects but My grandmother(who can be incriminated)is a fan of doseing mushroom then waiting 4 hours into the shroom experiance before dosing the LSD.

What an idea!! the laid back nature of the shrooms moving one into the nature of the rollercoaster trip of acid.. wow SWIM had never thought of doing it this way he had just taken them both at once!!

Depends on dosage, since psilocybin and LSD are cross-tolerant and this tolerance builds rapidly. The more LSD one takes, the more mushrooms they will have to take the next day for the desired effect.

As the above poster says there is a strong cross tolerance, probably caused by receptor down regulation, so the dosage taken the following day of mushrooms will have to be much larger. SWIY may also feel as though he doesn't really want to take the mushrooms the next day either, as often the trip is too intense to really want to repeat consecutively, especially if SWIY has the problem may people do after an acid trip - of being unable to fall asleep, so being tired the next day as well.

5-HT receptor downregulation will absolutely cause a tolerance between the two. If possible, it would probably be better to do the mushrooms first, and the acid later. The reason I say this is because LSD has a very high affinity for a long slew of receptors, while psilocybin is much more selective. As a result, LSD will downregulate a myriad of 5-HT receptors, as well as some DA receptors, while Psilocybin will downregulate only 5-HT2A receptors greatly, and others to a lesser extent. General activity of tryptamines will definitely be diminished, but taking LSD before mushrooms will induce a much higher tolerance than the other way around.

That being said, it is probably not a great idea to delve deep into the psychedelic headspace twice in a two day period. These experiences can be a very physically, emotionally, and psychologically taxing/exhausting process, not to be taken lightly.

Shampoo beat me to it. My lab-cats having had experience with this (coupled with MDMA, we called this combo 'momma nature') the only way the combo works well is if one takes the mushrooms and an hour and a half later, they drop the MDMA and LSD25. It's not for a novice tripper and can be very overwhelming.

But LSD25 a day before mushrooms is going to produce a lessened effect due to what shampoo said. and my cat is telling me that he's tried the exact scenario of what this thread is asking and he got little to no hallucinogenic effects from a 2.5gram dose the day after dropping two hits of good potency liquid.

BTW, Shampoo doesn't know what he's talking about... he makes this stuff up
