Kava-kava + ephedra + caffeine + grapefruit juice
SWIM is currently at T+8:30 hours and is still gone. His first move around T+0:10 minutes (after the kava drink and ephedra/caffeine pills had kicked in) was to put on socks and sweats and hump his hardwood floor. For the next 2-3 hours he was comfortably inactive on his bed, but that time is pretty blank from memory. After that he took 2 energy drinks with more caffeine, which really seemed to bring on the motion blur, nausea, double vision, restlessness, etc. The nausea seems to be mostly momentum/inertia based, SWIM can either sit still or move around, but switching between the two is what causes problems. SWIM would like some kavasleep, but is afraid it's too late for that, and would just like some sleep, but is a little worried about taking the benadryl he might need, considering all the potentiation/interference he has going on. Some things SWIM thinks are probably true -
1. grapefruit juice does potentiate kava, SWIM drank about 48 ounces of it right around when he was chugging the kava, and it seems to increase the duration more than the intensity of the experience.
2. it feels like kava might have some activity on the part of the brain that makes things seem novel or new, SWIM will look this up but believes that it's the amygdala and that XTC affects the same area.
3. SWIM thinks some so called "inactive" parts of the whole root might have potentiating effects on the active parts, which would explain why whole root is generally stronger than selective extracts.
SWIM is not really tired anymore, but knows he needs some form of sleep to avoid a nasty, spacey kava hangover, plus kavasleep is awesome. So he'll report back after that, and after the primary effects wear off.
