Youth Drinking and Driving scenario
Swim was doing a report on youth drinking when i thought up this scenario and was wondering what would happen to if swim was ever caught in this scenario.
What would happen to a minor under the age of 21 but over 18 who has been pulled over and breathelized for alcohol and a alcohol level lower then the states DUI limit showed up. Would he get off without a DUI and just get a MIC or would he get a DUI because he is a minor? Swim lives in phoenix Arizona if that has any effect. • |

Re: Youth Drinking and Driving scenario
In Florida, the limit for anyone under 21 is .02, however as I recall anything between .02-.08 (the adult legal limit) will only result in a license suspension and not an actual criminal charge.

Re: Youth Drinking and Driving scenario
Many years ago SWIM's father actually corrosponded with a man that was imprisoned because under state laws at his age he was legally intoxicated at the time of an accident that resulted in a fatal injury to another driver (SWIM can't excuse this kind of thing but it does seem silly that anyone over 21 would've faced significantly lesser charges).
You'll all have to excuse swim if this post is incoherant in the least though, he's been at the bottle himself and in relating this to me he's been rambling on and on and not making too much sense. |

Re: Youth Drinking and Driving scenario
SWIM isn't sure about Arizona, but in California there is zero-tolerance for drinking and driving under the age of 21. SWIM's nephew (who is under 18) was recently busted for driving "drunk" and spent a month in Juvenile Hall. Serious business.
Best thing you can do when drinking is to not drive at all, especially if you're underage. |
