Cannabis & Cotton-Mouth...

Hey Everyone,

I'm new to this board, and after doing a few searches, I was unable to answer this question. I enjoy smoking weed, but hate cotton-mouth. I know there are medical conditions where you don't produce enough saliva, and there are medications to help you produce saliva... I was wondering if those meds would effectively combat weed-induced cotton-mouth? Anyone tried this before? Or maybe there is an easier way to beat cotton-mouth... can someone help me out?

Thanks in advance,

Derek

Yep plain old water will do the job.

If your going somewhere where you don't have access to water, then either bring chewing gums or some sweet you can suck on.

Why take a pill to do something that's done perfectly
already? If you've got a dry mouth, it's because you
need to drink water, not take a pill to make you
salivate!

While I do agree that you needn't abuse drugs (taking something that's not necessary), I just find that water doesn't completely get rid of it unless you are constantly drinking it... at least for me. I was curious if anyone knew of anything else that would help... that's all!

best solution i have ever tried:

a big swig of strong lemon juice (not lemonade, lemon juice!) followed by some real strong, minty gum. repeat as desired .

Welcome to the world of weed.......cotton-mouth headquarters. Just drink good old water and you will be fine. Hell cotton-mouth is part of the experience.

I've been smoking marijuana regularly (almost daily) for about six
months now, and I still get cotton mouth. I'm used to it now, but
sometimes I do find it more annoying than others, depending on how much
I've smoked and the quality of the weed.

Like D.U.M.B. said, eating fruit seems to help me in a lot of
cases. If I'm out for the night, I'll make sure I have some
candies or gum to chew on to produce a bit of saliva. If I smoke
before going to a club or bar, I'll just end up drinking more...
If I'm at home, a smoking session is usually followed by a feast to
stop the munchies. I find eating a big meal and drinking a lot of
water with it will get rid of my dry mouth very quickly.

dry-mouth is a sign of dehydration. to those who tell you it's normal after smoking weed, they are wrong. I smoke a LOT of weed on a daily basis ... literally each hour that I am awak, I smoke at least a gram or two. What you need is water, good ol' water.

And no, a glass of water won't cure your dry-mouth. you need a gallon of water at least if you are to the point of dry-mouth. i drink no less then 2 gallons of water per day, and feel much better and have a much healthier life because of it. (just started doing this about a year ago, before that I was one of the average under-hydrated public.)

if you need to hydrate quickly, and can't gulp down the water, try pedialite.

I agree pinkavvy, as long as you drink plenty of water daily you won't get cotton mouth back when I smoked weed daily (the good old days) I never got cotton mouth, unless I smoked ALOT real quickly my mouth may get a bit dry but a little more water would do the job.

Pinkavvy,

I agree some people don't drink a lot of water in a day... and yes, that can dehydrate you. I'm a competitive bodybuilder... I drink around 8 - 10 litres a day... so I know I'm not dehydrated... anways, I'm going to try the fruit thing and the lemon juice...

Thanks for the idea's guys...

Derek
