Well our brilliant goverment has decided that after exhausting our military in Iraq for a war theyve lost they would start a war against a more formidable country. It's near sent in stone we are taken action against Iran. With a dwindling army, nuclear weapons become a possible means of "defense".
I have seen a few people protesting but most of them were above the age of 40. This administration is condemning us to a bleak future. For these reasons and many others, Go to Washington on Nov 3rd. The ACLU has been alerted, we are working on spreading the word on myspace, facebook as well as craigslist and digg.com If you need transportation, arrangements will be made, updates will be posted as they occour. Spread the word anyway you can. |

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
^^^ above is a perfect example of how we enable the goverment to get away with squandering our nation. in the 60-70's people made a difference and helped end a war by showing public disproval, this is yet to happen on a large scale in regards to this war...

4. those who go to war, weren´t forced to go, but for money-and peerpressure, which makes a big difference, concernign solidaristion and forming anti-war groups.
One of the biggest concerns of our time is now caring for the needs of other groups of different interst but same problems as we have of will have, which iws much likely going to fail, because we´re so easily satisfied, with some money on the bank and things going well for us at the time. |

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
I do agree that a big factor in the public outcry against vietnam was the draft, however the current regimes policy is finally starting to manifest itself in such a way that it is having and will continue to have a negative effect on all of us. Bush is asking for another 200 billion for the war, on top of the huge debt he has put us in. Our currency has been losing value over the past 5 years dramatically to that of other countries in the world. Our money is worth less everytime he spends, more or less our wealth is being redistributed into the pockets of businessman and soldiers who agree with the current policy. This is going to tip the scales in favor of conservatives with backwards views quickly as our countries wealth is redistributed. As our money is worth less and less, things will cost more and more. As our economy fails we are getting paid less or getting laid off. their are less jobs... Social security is fucked, so if you wanted to retire, forget it. We have made ourselves vulnerable to other countries militarys and given those countries reason. If we start a full fledged war in iran its very likely that a draft would be inevitable.
All in all, we are getting screwed for many years to come. I for one, would like to do what I can for me, not to mention all those other people dying(I feel most people are not as sensitive or care as much about this, sadly.). |

[quote=rxbandit;317645] more or less our wealth is being redistributed into the pockets of businessman and soldiers who agree with the current policy.
I wonder just what your thinking , putting our wealth in the pockets of soldiers? that is absurd . Our soldiers are under paid as it is , they are far from wealthy or even making above the poverty level. Business men loose money as some make money , they are speculators and investers, they dont make wealth just because of a conflict. the term businessmen is generic and is sterotypic in your thread. |

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
They make wealth from a conflict when the united states funnels a few hundred billion dollars into their pockets. Tax payers have to pay for frivolous spending, they loose money while private industry such as halliburton and their workers as well as soldiers who support their president blindly accumulate all of the wealth that is being slowly drained from the population.
This is not the point though. I dont care what your reason is, there are many. come march and protest. |

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
Oh a lot of people will be going! But the media won't report it. Nonetheless - it's fun to flip the bird at the White House. Go!
Sung to the tune oif the Beach Boys song "Barbara Ann" - "Bomb, Bomb, Bomb - Bomb, Bomb Iran! Bonb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb, Bomb Iran! Oh Yes We Can! We'll Be Rock & Rollin'! The Ayatollah Smokin'! Bomb Iran!" Bring some good, homemade, signs. |

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
Seems like Bushies are as unlucky in making money of their warefare involving oil as Bush´s always been himself.
You´re right, this is too expensive and the americans need to make a differnce by voting the right party. |

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
Cool, world war three here we come, global warming is becoming a bitch anyway, we could use a good old fashioned nuclear winter.
If only protesting really made a difference anymore... keep up the good work anyway... sigh |

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
the internet is the reason far less people protest and take action these days.
activists update blogs and websites a lot of the time, instead of protesting. the protest movement is still alive, but the Web has certainly weakened it a lot. don't get me wrong, the net is very useful and important, and in some ways it helps activism, but in terms of protests and marches I believe it has made things worse |

It always is! D.C. protests are some of the most fun you can have - and be arrested and let go for! You'll meet a lot of really good people.

Re: March on Washington Nov. 3rd
I'm sure if this march had a celebrity appearance many more would make the effort to come. On that note, we would be honored to have you, nagognog, come speak... haha maybe that would lure everyone away from their smoking circle.
