Snorting XR without crushing beads?

swim received some false information from a friend of his, and snorted a 20mg XR without crushing the beads

swim did it again the next day, heard that it can do "all kinds of disgusting things" and is now a little paranoid.

swim is curious as to how true this statement is, and is very confused as he is relatively inexperienced with pills

I been snorting 15mg XR without crushing the beads for the past 3 weeks and have heard lots of bad things too, like it causing aneurysms so I'd also like some answers

SWIM isn't 100% sure/able to back this up with a source, but he had been under the impression that the beads had a filler which was stomach-acid-resistant for ~4 hours, thereby adding the "XR" effect to the beads (some of the beads aren't coated/mixed with it, however).

I don't think it will do "all kinds of disgusting things" but this is surely not ideal, the point of snorting is to increase the rate at which your body absorbs the drug, what the XR (extended release) mechanism does is prolong this...so unless one destroys the XR mechanism, snorting this will be futile. It will probably come on eventually just as XR...after a while I would think you would either ingest this by dripping in swallowring or you would spit it out thinking there isnt anything there.

Don't incriminate yourself, adderall is prescribed for oral use only, so even if you have a script your not supposed to do this. read the rules here

If you have an aneurysm then I think you would know...the OP was over 5 days ago and we haven't heard anything bad (nor have we heard anything good...?)...but the chance of having an aneurysm would probably be the same as if you swallowed the pill.

this is true...i believe half of them are instant dissolve and the other half are stomach resistant as you say...this is the XR (extended release) mechanism...

Ahh hey there, sorry that my post didn't satisfy you enough. A search for "Adderall" on Wikipedia had the following information:

"Adderall XR utilizes the Microtrol® extended-release delivery system. This system incorporates two types of beads: the first dissolves immediately, releasing half of the medication, while the second type dissolves much more slowly releasing the remaining medication four hours later. Maximum plasma concentration is achieved in seven hours, compared to regular Adderall, which reaches maximum plasma concentration within three hours. My inference from this is that snorting the beads whole would be a bad idea, but the last time someone suggested that it was disregarded, you may want to get an opinion from someone else.

Note: In addition to the Microtrol bead usage Adderall also uses four different kinds of amphetamine salts. These are firstly dextroamphetamine saccharate, secondly dextroamphetamine sulfate, thirdly a racemic blend of dextro- and levo-amphetamine aspartates, and finally a racemic blend of dextro- and levo-amphetamine sulfates. The quick dissolve beads contain the dextro-a saccharates and sulfates and the resistant beads contain the racemic blends. But even though the first two salts are released at the same time they have different metabolisation rates and half-lifes. Thus, even though both are in your blood stream at once the sulfate will take longer to kick in. And then when the resistant beads are dissolved a similar thing occurs. These "salt phases" intelligently overlap to cause even effects throughout (this is why XR was developed, to rid ADHD medicines of the hills present in Ritalin and instant release Adderall). All said...I believe snorting the beads without crushing or with crushing will not cause as quick release of all four salts as people hope but just the saccharates and aspartates and then a few hours later the sulfates, with longer metabolisation rates (insufflation or oral ingestion aside), will kick in for a total of two rounds rather than the designed four. This is how I take it.

I would never recommend snorting anything but logically this method on XR's will give you a slightly heavier speed but lasting shorter in theory. Thus it would simply produce the same affects of snorting a non-XR adderall, which are typically cheaper, which has all four salts as well but without the bead resistors the salts are metabolised two and then two. The exact same product. Almost half the price.

Don't snort things that are meant to be eaten. It works virtually the same. Hell, if you want your XR's to go two and then two (salt patterns) just remove the balls crush them between two spoons and dissolve it in water.
