Hydrocodone "Allergy"

Apparently, SWIM's father has some sort of adverse reaction to hydrocodone. SWIM knows it's not technically an allergy, since allergy implies a response from the immune system. Anyway, all SWIM knows about his father's problem is that the drug doesn't affect him like it should. Could this have been passed down to SWIM genetically, or is it some sort of random thing that happens to some people? Should SWIM go ahead and take some hydrocodone? What are the specific possibilities of what this problem could be?

SWIMs mother has the same kind of problem of apparently allergy against opiates/oids and the only thing that ever worked and didnt cause massively crappy sideeffects or what she says is an allergic reaction.

For some reason though she said Percodans have worked but Percocets oh hell no or Oxycontin NO WAY or morphine uh uh. ive never figures why percodan which has oxycodone i believe in it and others with oxycodone seem to effect her negatively and how other opiates do as well.

im just trying to help SWIMs mom because shes been in and out of hospital or doc visits with no clean answer.

Difficult question, I use Tramdol which has a statement to cause aggressive behaviour as a sideffect, which could be an allergic reaction manifesting as just one part of a general immune answere, maybe by altering the limbic system.

I have never encountered such a thing, luckily, but I was given time released tramadol and I get all the sides one yould get of them, while the drops just do very well with no sides at all.
