Alternative to Tramadol ???
Swim has a long term case of chronic pelvic pain syndrome and for the first four months after being prescribed it swim's quality of life improved greatly after taking around 150mgs a day but in the last 6 weeks Swim's tollerance has suddenly shot up and swim can take 400 mgs a day and recieve very little relief in return. One doctor prescrided 30/500 codiene/ paracetamol but these offer little relief and the paracetamol is a mashing up swim's internal organs. Are there any similar semi/opiate synthetic drugs that swim could take for a period to allow his tollerance to reduce to sain levels?

Re: Alternative to trammadol ???
kratom is effective in killing pain. I posted in another thread articles that have to do with nmda receptors and tolerance and addiction. I believe i read that one of the active ingredients in kratom is an mild nmda antagonist which is the reason why people generally dont increase there dose or dont increase it heavily. These may also help keep someone from becoming psychologically addicted to kratom however that is an unproven statement. Nonetheless it is a very strong medicine that works via opiate pathways
on top of that if you took kava with it it would be beneficial. Kava is an anti anxiety herb that has many mediciinal qualities. On top of reducing anxiety, it is a muscle relaxer and a cox 1 and cox 2 enzyme inhibitor. This means it works the same way as motrin does by inhibiting a pain signal. It is much safer for you than other drugs (0.3 liver complications POSSIBLY caused by kava per million while 2.14 liver complications definitevely caused by valium and 3-5% of one million people who ingest tylenol and aspiron and motrin have serious complications caused by them this combonation is a very safe and effective means of killing pain with less risk of strong addiction and ruining organs through nsaids and tylenol |

Re: Alternative to trammadol ???
Quote:
Their reasoning for this was based on the view that in some rare cases the use of kava kava can result in liver damage (although this link has never really been proven). As far as SWIS is aware, Kava Kava is currently subject to a voluntary withdrawal from the Irish market by the Industry and is not subject to prescription status (since 2002). |

Re: Alternative to Tramadol ???
Hey thanks for the info. What a bummer!! can you believe something as safe as kava with .3 per million compared to 50000 people who take tylenol and nsaids on a regular basis. wait to you see these articles. youll cringe lol. Also, there is new studies that confirm there is 3/4ths less an occurence of certain types of cancer in the native areas taht heavily use kava. and they never had an instance of hepotoxicity to my knowledge. Its a wonderful medicine. Thats why I do research on it and am using a fear and phobia model to prove it more effective than valium in treating phobias and anxieties. I cant wait to post my own paper on here. It will take time but im quite confident im right.

Re: Alternative to Tramadol ???
Well littlebare, as SWIS stated the reasons for the ban are sketchy to say the least. They have said that they may revisit the ban, but SWIS would not hold out much hope. SWIS believes that it was a German study that suggested a link between high doses and liver toxicity.....it has never been proven, but that didn't stop them banning it.
Interestingly, it is one of those grey areas in UK law. Take a look at the wording in the previous post; it's not illegal for an individual to possess or buy it, you just won't find it on sale in UK shops (well not legally at any rate). Good luck with the research and the paper. |

Re: Alternative to Tramadol ???
Fiji and Tonga were British colonies up until recently. When they withdrew, they didn't withdraw completely. They left the missionaries who are importing the liquor into the islands. The liquor is in competition for the traditional Kava~Kava drinkers. Put it together. It's called BUSINESS. At least they haven't banned it in Fiji and Tonga. Yet...
Canada also bans Kava~Kava. A friend of mine recently returned from Tonga. He went to the traditional Kava~Kava houses in the evenings. His description is one of people at peace - talking and being very open and friendly with one another. And my friend, the outsider. They accepted him with open hands. But down the way were the people drinking hard liquor. Assaults. Robberies. Domestic violence. Etc. Rather like what happened with the Native American peoples when introduced to whiskey. Just about destroyed the culture - but worked great for the prison industry and the hangman's rope. And which substance is demonized by the Great White Hope? Kava~Kava. False stories of liver damage and death. And the Native people portrayed as violent and in need of the judicial system to bring the savages to heel. Same game as was played out in the Americas. Different jungle. Last edited by Nagognog2; 27-09-2007 at 16:46. |
