Re: gbl? huh
Heroin is a Central Nervous System depressant and so is GBL - combining the two can easily be fatal, consider SWIYself fortunate to have woken up at all.
The nerve damage can be caused by poor blood flow due to both the very heavily suppressed CNS and also the fact that, under such sedation, the body does not change position as it would naturally during the sleep to allow for correction of areas where the blood might be being restricted from being in the "wrong position". Do not take GBL with *any* CNS suppressor - be it Heroin, Benzo's, Alcohol etc. What is SWIY's current situation with GBL use, does he have a 24/7 dosing problem or did he just try to replace his valium with it and got caught out soon after? |

Re: gbl? huh
hi G, SWIMs problem nearly cost him his life
on 2 occassions taking the combintion above after the story noted above, luckly SWIM was found in time and resusated in hospital. be warnned ppl it is a seriously dangerous conbination. SWIMs gbl use is 24/7 SWIM only sleeps for 2hours at a time. he's still precribed small does of valium 2 help him stay off heroin. maybees a good idea to tell SWIM to stop them. SWIMgets really down and deppressed without his gbl 2 a point where he can no longer cope. i think his valum addiction is causing this, im really worryed about him. (i dont know what i can do 2 help him thanks for your reply G |

Re: gbl? huh
SWIM needs to stop - by whatever means. This includes talking to a doctor. With a bit of luck - he can get a private detox rather than sent to a rehab. Find a doctor who will help with this. SWIM's life is in the balance - be an adult and take care of SWIM.

Re: gbl? huh
The first thing SWIY should do is have a read through this forum for information on GBL withdrawal. There is quite a good resource here and in the archive section. SWIY can arm himself with a lot of knowledge to better understand the actual physiological process going on inside him.
He can then read through some of the methods used for withdrawing and find one that he thinks might work best given his situation. 24/7 GBL dosing *is* a serious situation so the first step on the ladder to recovery from it is information and understanding. ive been having a look at he recovery forum, am i right in thinkin SWIM just needs vital vitamins minerals & nutrients to make him stronger to put it bluntly? to keep off the valium & heroin? becaue swims old 3 months binge on gbl was very easy to come off he only had 1 day of muscluer seize up for 1 night, which is a walk in te park to heroin withdrawl, even after the main illness is over swim never fully recovers.
SWIM needs educated he thought ghb/gbl was a stimulent (sp) sort of drug funny how it can be dance drug and a deppresent? as the name goes 'liquid e' :/ dont qute understand this drug. thanks for your advice |

Re: gbl? huh
The "liquid ecstacy" label is a misnomer, created by the mainstream media it often results in people mistakenly thinking that GHB/GBL is a liquid version of MDMA. It is not.
Getting your body physically well is an important first step towards recovery from any substance abuse as care for ones own wellbeing is often the first casualty of addiction. Being mentally able to cope with the ups and downs of recovery will be helped immensely if a user has managed to eat properly and supplement their diet with a wide range of vitamins, amino acids and, in most cases, herbal supplement to help their mental state such as St John's Wort, Valerian Root etc. For example, SWIY would probably benefit from 5-Htp as a way to boost serotonin levels - this will allow him to feel generally more positive. SWIY should allow himself to get genuinely excited at the prospect of a recovery that he can take charge of instead of languishing in depression and remaining a passive victim of his own mistakes. The Trainspotting style "three buckets and a locked room" idea of coming off substances is not to be seen as a suitable way to proceed. A lot of SWIY's problems will be based on the fact that, as a result of his substance abuse, he will have an imbalance in certain aspects of his brain chemistry. Trying to go all hardcore and "bite the bullet" is usually a fast road to failure. Balance out yer brain! Read, Learn and when your done, Read and Learn some more. BTW please try to avoid back to back postings, I know you can't edit your submissions at the moment but it is not seen as good practice to have multiple postings made one after the other. |
