Taken 80mg XR in past 18 hours. safe to keep going???

Swim took 20mg XR at 7am, then 20mg XR at 8am... later at 3pm swim took another 20mg, then again at 7pm.
is it ok to keep going you think? or maybe just some ritalin? (its 12.30am now)

any advice would be amazing guys!

it is difficult to say what swiy should do based on the information given. amount of milligrams to one person may be stronger than another person. depending on weight, tolerance, and other factors.

if swim was in swiy's position, he would let the effects wear off so he could sleep at some point

well, as graduisic said above, it really depends on one's tolerance and size but swim thinks it wouldn't be dangerous because she has taken over 120mg in about the same time period (she does have a tolerance though but is only 110 lbs). swim would much rather take the adderall than the ritalin though, as ritalin makes her jittery which wouldn't really feel too great after adderall-ing all day. swiy should finish what they are doing and let the adderall wear off and get some sleep. then, swim recommends laying off the amphs for a few (like 5) days to let tolerance drop back down so the addys will be much more enjoyable when they are taken again.
anyways in conclusion, nah swiy doesn't sound like they are in a dangerous situation.

i guess it depends on the person SWIM down practically their whole script in the first 72 hours (30 20mg Addy XRs). All of which were crushed and snorted or crushed and parachuted. SWIM also took 2 tums in between each dosing and smoked a little crack. At the end of the binge SWIM began extracting PPX from benzedrex inhalers and finally on the 5th day SWIM dropped some benzos and slept for approx. 28 hours. SWIM tells me it was an amazing experience but is very cautious to repeat it again for a while and would like to through some MDMA in the mix next time.

SWIM had an occasion where he was awake for 58 hours or so with the assistance of 120 mg of Adderall XR. SWIM will detail times from when SWIM woke up (because sleep deprivation itself is a drug) and not from the time of the first pill.

+0:00 Awake from sleep. About 5PM Wednesday night. SWIM had been on adderall two days before and had to catch up on sleep and thus awoke late.

+5:00 Now is 10 PM or so. SWIM buys fours Adderall from a friend and plans to make them last a bit. Tonight SWIM needs to stay up to study for a latin test.

Now SWIM will skip past most of the typical Adderall side-effects because if SWIY has read enough here or have done it you know it all.

+17:30 After messing around for awhile after the first pill (SWIM always has to metabolize through the first salt to get something done because the first salt just makes him hyper, talk alot, and smoke a pack of cigs in 3 hrs) SWIM studied from about 2AM until 7AM. It is 10:30AM Thursday and SWIM has a test in a half hour. It had been 12 and a half hours since last pill so SWIM chomped another to stay awake for test and the rest of his classes. SWIM takes the test (which despite only actually studying for for about an hour and didn't even know material SWIM got a 100 and finished in 5 minutes which was an hour less than all others), goes to the rest of his classes (few heart flutters and sweating noticed), and then decides to go to library to study because he realizes there is a German test the following day. Finish studying in 1/2 hr. Proceed to read 3 books totaling 600 pgs in only 3-4 hours (note these books were boring!!! german grammar and historical linguistics books).

+28:00 SWIM returns to his dorm from library at about 9PM Thursday. He realizes he also has a test in astronomy which he has been skipping and thus will be difficult. Makes decision to pop 3rd pill. Three hour/First salt time passes and SWIM begins studying at midnight. study til 3AM Friday. Wander to computer and begin filling the fixation to learn void on erowid.org and learning random facts. Around 7AM (class in 4 hrs) minor hallucinations begin to be noticed. SWIM attributes these to sleep deprivation (probably correctly) due to 38 hrs w/o sleep.

+41:30 It is 10:30AM Friday. Hallucinations are everywhere. SWIM sees the words on his computer monitor splitting in half and seperating or floating off screen. Next SWIM can no longer see the words and can only comprehend the spaces between the words which begin to form patterns on the screen which rise off the screen. SWIM tries to go to the restroom and realizes the visual distortions bother him enough to make walking difficult. SWIM now feels dumb and realizes he will not be able to walk 1.5 miles to get to class. In a delusion he forgets his realization five minutes later and takes another pill so he can get to class on time. Five minutes later SWIM realizes again that he cannot make it to class and that he just took another adderall at 10:30 or so and thus would be awake at least until 10PM Friday. SWIM wants to puke up the pill but is mildly paranoid and does not enjoy forcing such things.

+48:00 Note: this is about 6 hours after SWIM took his fourth 30mg adderall and so the third amphetamine salt will begin to be metabolized at around this time. Note also: at around 48 hours some theorize that the brain goes into a safety mode and tries to keep active by releasing chemicals and altering how it must now operate...one of these chemicals is likely thought to be dopamine (the hormone which amphetamines do not allow to return to their places causing constant stimulation of dopamine receptors and thus the stimulant feeling of amps). What happens between 4 and 6PM Friday is kind of hazy for me. Likely, given these two forms of dopamine stimulation are true SWIM's brain probably got the brunt of both at the same time. Details are not remembered. At this point the visual hallucinations (or rather distortions are at full force) and auditory hallucinations begin. SWIM sees a piece of garbage floating across the ground as he smokes a cigarette and thinks its a cat that is stalking him. He hears his name repeated over and begins not to trust some of the other people walking around in the plaza below his dorm. He decides to go back into his room and be alone. A few minutes later, some one asks SWIM to go to the place on campus to eat...SWIM agrees because he trusts this person. Arriving at the place, SWIM has not eaten for probably three days and everything sounds quite tasty. SWIM orders food but cannot eat it when he gets it due to the metabolic effects of adderall. Although the inviter (person X) and SWIM came with several other ppl SWIM feels the need to ask to move alone with X because Y, Z, ... are annoying him (and although it is quite common for these people to annoy SWIM it bothers him much more than normal and he feels plain uncomfortable). Sitting with X while she eats, SWIM begins to think Y, Z and the rest of the others are upset with him and SWIM hears his name discussed several times. SWIM thinks they are going to try to get him. Then SWIM "realizes" everyone else in the restaurant except X are in on it too. SWIM apologizes to X and runs out to return to his dorm. He lies in bed with the lights off. SWIM has to close the curtain because "the people" can see in and yet conveniently since the window is still open a helicopter happens to fly over and frightens SWIM. SWIM looks out the window and luck has it that it is a Chinook, which SWIM begins to think is out to get him as well so he slams the window shut and hides under his covers. SWIM's friend who lives next door calls around 8:15 having just got out of class and wants to smoke a cig with SWIM. SWIM as stressed as he is needs this and goes to smoke with this friend near the dorm entrance. While the two are smoking SWIM explains what he is feeling to his friend and the friend then sees an example of this when SWIM shys away from people who are walking into the door, afraid they will get him. This friend then forces SWIM to go to bed and SWIM trusts and complies. SWIM fell asleep somewhere between this time and 11PM Friday, with an estimated 54 hours without sleep constantly on adderall. SWIM wakes up the next day worn out and with a migraine but the delusions are gone and he feels mostly fine.

SWIM did a bit of research and discovered likely what he experienced was amphetamine psychosis. Even though this is usually only in cases of long-term abuse and overdoses, SWIM was lucky enough to be one of the cases where it can just randomly happen (it is said it could happen to anyone from one dose though it is unlikely). The likely cause of the incident was the 3rd salt of the 3rd pill and sleep deprivation chemically altering SWIM's brain at the same time. This caused a surge of dopamine which streched SWIM's mesolimbic pathway and allowed dopamine to sit on his receptors (the sleep deprivation is likely responsible for the excessive dopamine and the amphetamines caused the dopamine to not reuptake to their proper location after doing its job). This is supposed to cause literal puddles of dopamine to rest on the receptors. Theoretically, these are the same processes which chemically (though naturally not artificially induced) occur in schizophrenics. Amphetamine psychosis is indistinguishable from schizophrenia except for the psychosis is temporary. To make it worse, despite the fact that it was one of the worst things SWIM has experienced, SWIM likely only experienced a mild case of amphetamine psychosis (it can last in some for three weeks and be much more severe).

So do you want to keep going if this is possible? Shire Pharmaceuticals does not distribute much information about this rare side effect (though it has caused deaths and the company has been sued) and so many don't know of it. (In addition, SWIM is on beta blockers for tremors and Shire Pharmaceuticals also does not denote very well the counterindications which can occur here [heart palpitations, further increased heart rate and pressure, basically not only does the beta blocker not do its job but it does the opposite along with the adderall magnifying side effects].) Simply, be careful! Probably won't happen, but know its possible.

i used to be prescribed to 90 mg XR a day
now i'm at 60mg XR/day
SWIM has taken 240mg XR in 27 hours
and he had no problems.

Unfortunately, SWIM notices the problem with adderall dosing is that it is not size/weight/metabolism/gender dependent. It all depends on each individuals dopamine receptors and the health of that system.

SWIM is only 165 pounds, and is male. SWIM had no tolerance to adderall when this adventure occurred. His first time, despite knowing the risks, he decided to go on a massive binge to see if amps were all they were "cracked" up to be. (Pardon the pun.)

Averaging the dosages out, SWIM probably took about 20mg Addy XR every five hours, and as such successfully stayed up, during a school week and the following weekend, for ninety hours straight. No food was consumed during this ninety hour period.

SWIM tells me that the small hallucinations, or "shadows" started around forty-eight hours in. However, the true fun began around hours 75-90, when the combined sleep-deprivation, food-deprivation, and intense amphetamine psychosis resulted in physically tangible, open-eye hallucinations. These apparently included being attacked by demonic clowns and watching a velociraptor break through the bed of a rapidly vibrating pickup truck. Also, SWIM claims that he got within twenty feet of an alien in a hoody playing the saxophone, and that a picture was taken; however, upon further investigation, said picture was found to be completely empty, and was attributed to "secret alien technological powers" that were used to avoid detection.

Overall, SWIM reported that he would have kept going, possibly forever, had he not run out of Addy. He was also supposedly most upset that he did not reach his target goal of 100 hours, but was pleased that he managed to avoid taking more than 350 milligrams during this period. Apparently, despite the hallucinations, he would highly recommend it to anyone looking to have a most incredible week.
