Don't Paint Pot-Plants On Your House

Man on probation in pot house incident, arrested again
September 19, 2007

TORRINGTON, Conn. --A man who was on probation on drug charges after painting large pictures of marijuana leaves on his Winsted home has been arrested on drug charges at his new home in Torrington.

Christopher Seekins, 27, was arrested Monday after a strong odor in his apartment sparked the curiosity of probation officers there for a routine visit, police said.

Police said they seized 58 plants from a bedroom closet Monday. The plants were growing under lights rotated by a motorized rail system, according to court records.

Police also allegedly found 1.84 pounds of marijuana drying inside a refrigerator covered with a blanket. In Seekins' basement, more growing equipment was found, including 24 bags of potting soil, grow lamps and scales, according to court records.

The former Winsted resident got a two-year suspended sentence in 2006 after pleading guilty to a single count of cultivation of marijuana. Seekins was told to stay out of trouble.

Two years ago Winsted police found 100 thriving plants in his house on High Street. Seekins said he was a botanist performing research.

Seekins drew fire from town officials when he spray painted bright green marijuana leaves with the word "hemp" beneath them on his white home visible from the town's busy Main Street.

Seekins told Bantam Superior Court Judge Paul Matasavage at an arraignment hearing Tuesday he intended to represent himself again.

Matasavage set bond at $100,000 and scheduled him to return to court Oct. 10.

Re: Don't Paint Pot-Plants On Your House

there's an abandoned house on high street near me, the house address is coincidentally 420.. i didn't believe it until i saw it, i wish i lived there
i'd love to spray paint pot leaves on my house, but i'd have nothing IN the house or in my system, that way all i'd be doing was bothering the city

Re: Don't Paint Pot-Plants On Your House

Why would anyone with that amount of weed in their house paint pot leafs on their house. You may as well have a big neon sign saying "drug busts welcome here" over your house

Re: Don't Paint Pot-Plants On Your House

well yes it does say "we smoke pot in this house" but the fact thatr one has pot leafs painted n there house dosent give the cops the right to kick down ones door or get a search warrent.if he wasent on probation this wouldent of happened.
