Vivid Dreams - An After-Effect of LSD Use?

Swim has recently noticed that after every time he drops acid, he experiences very vivid dreams during sleep - not the same night of ingestion, but rather the following few days. The dreams do not consist of flashbacks or events from the trip, but are just regular dreams totally enhanced. They seem very real. Is this a common after-effect of LSD use?

SWIM's never had LSD, but he gets this after every drug, excluding cannabis and including alcohol. It doesn't usually last for a few days, but the night of the experience, his dreams will be much more vivid.

Re: Vivid Dreams - An After-Effect of LSD Use?

It could be (Jungian analysis) that the heavy load of subconscious data brought to the surface from the psychedelic requires a lot of new encoding. Dreams are there to give subtle messages to the conscious mind during sleep. Load the two - result could be more memorable dreams. Or, to the one experiencing same - more powerful. Read: It's a balancing act between one's unconcious and conscious mind.

I wouldn't be concerned. I'd suggest enjoying the ride. Call it a parting gift.

I was not aware of that. It definitely makes sense though. Thanks. And no, Swim's not too worried about it. haha. he was just noticing the same pattern each time he dropped. It can actually be pretty exciting.

Re: Vivid Dreams - An After-Effect of LSD Use?

Physiologically, long-lasting central agents like LSD that interfere with sleep induction could easily tend to throw off the sleep cycle a bit (especially if taken at night or in the evening) resulting in increased REM latency and intensity.

Re: Vivid Dreams - An After-Effect of LSD Use?

swim believes that lsd increases the awareness of mind, heightens the senses and consciousness in a way. the elements that a person sees in a psychedelic experience are pretty intense, therefore resulting in that intensity integrate into dreams as well. sort of like, mind desires more after seeing more.

Re: Vivid Dreams - An After-Effect of LSD Use?

SWIM finds that after his first time trying lucy last night, he slept, but it felt like he did not sleep at all. In fact, he had to force himself to sleep, or he would have stayed up for a day or more. He had such vivid dreams, but it didnt feel like dreams at all, it felt like he was awake all night, having conscious thoughts, despite being unable to move.
