Combinations - ambien and alcohol

Swim has found that ambien and alcohol make for a pleasant mood.
There seems to be no withdrawel and it's almost like a psychedelic experience. Is mixing the two together safe? Would these two make for a real psychedelic trip if taken in the right amount?
Alcohol by itself seems like a downer but mixed with ambien it seems almost like a mood brightener.

I've got 10mg Ambien (not the Amb. CR) prescribed to me by a doctor for insomnia... yeah, the bottle says not to take alcohol with it. I usually take 3 Lortab 7.5's at once (5pm) for my back pain when home from work with 3-4 beers til say 9pm? Then half an Ambien at bed time and I sleep like a rock.

In my own experience, Ambien and Alcohol have mixed nicely together... but I'm not hammered either?

Just a point of clarification... both the Ambien and the Lortab have been prescribed to me by a physician... I am not incriminating myself, just pointing out that I have taken both meds within 6 hours of each other, and chosen to consume alcohol with no adverse affects... now, if you're going to consume a whole case of beer or a whole bottle of wine, YMMV.

There are not too many real dangers of ambien (zolpidem) and alcohol. Although ambien will intensify alcohol's effects.

Risk: Strong synergy between the two meaning easier to OD, besides amnesia is also increased leading the monkey to possible ingest more ambien forgetting the monkey already took too much. Proceed with caution.

Very True. When swim ingested 15mg of ambien, Swim walked to the park to meet up with swim's friends. Swim's friends told Swim that he ingested about 3 more ambiien, insuffleating 1 one. Swim was unable to stay awake for more than 3 hours for about a day.

Much higher risk of blackouts and/or memory loss as Lehendakari said. It'd be a good idea to hide the Ambien after the first dosage, many Ambien trip reports have ended with "I woke up in the morning with clothes strewn all over my room, mayonaise smeared on the walls, my stereo broken, and no memory of the night before. I later noticed that about 6 of my ambien pills were missing. Hm..."

Yes I've read a few of them. They always amuse me. Others end up with the subject woken by the police after unwillingly crashing his car into his living room.

haha last week i woke up in my bathtub with my clothes on covered in vomit and recently ordered chinese food unopened on my rooms floor.....

this was with 20mg ambien and an unknown quantity of alcohol....scary...will not be doing this again in the near future

Swim has taken up to 25mg of ambien then drank a few shots and a few beers. Swim was extremely wasted, but it almost felt as though swim just smoked and drank. Swim didn't notice any outstanding positive effects from the ambien, but maybe swim just got too drunk to tell if there was a difference.
