BBC's Operation Julie (1978)

A new entry has been added to Drugs Archive

Description:

31 mins

Quote:
On 26 March 1977 the largest drugs bust in history cracked a drugs ring based near Tregaron [in Wales, UK]. Six million tabs of LSD were recovered by the police. In 1978 the BBC made a documentary about the investigation.

Worth watching for the historical information, but some of the journalism is quite bad and supports lots of the anti-LSD myths. The naked girl in the field shown in this documentary became one of the LSD myths that's still repeated today.

Re: BBC's Operation Julie (1978)

I read the book a few years ago, and though it was written by a cop from a cops point of view, the information was really interesting and it was an enjoyable and at times hilarious read...the police forensics team tripping after doing a clean up of an LSD lab and going to the pub, for instance. It was pretty biased in it's information about LSD, you know the usual horror stories that you know are total kak!!! But the insight into the people involved in the making and distributing of the drugs was pretty unbiased and interesting.
