Salvia Divinorum leaf chewing

Does anyone know about Savia and leaf chewing? Swim had tried smoking and was very intense. Kinda uptight. But still crazy. Not very comfortable. How would swim know how much to chew to get better effects. More visual and relaxed. Other better methods. Are there any experiences?
