Looking back on past drug use - was it worth it?

to anyone who stoped a drug or drugs would you say it was worth it cause i know we all had good times being high but do you think your life would of been better or worst without them cause when i look back me and my friends use to try to go out and do whatever we could to have fun then for 3 years we just sat on the couch and got high looking at a turned off tv and now that im drug free i kinda feel like it was a waste cause i let the drugs make the fun instead of me really going out and doing things

and to all those who still do drugs do you do them for insight fun or to fill that emptyness inside wich most of us have Edited by: white_lighter

I only regret a few things (crack,junk,meth)....I don't regret trying them, but I do regret allowing these three control me and various times in my life...but without these experiences I would probably have lived a boring life and jumped off a bridge or something. I regret the times I abused myself with the drugs --to fill my voids...it was basically an excuse not to give a fuck and get high at any expense while having my little pity party about my fucked up life.Learn from your mistakes (if you've made any)....I now do drugs for insight, as an enhancer, or to medicate myself. I am moreselective these days....I have my priorities in line and I am ahealthier and more productive person. I have quit drugs for periods of time and I was happy...I have many otherinterests besides drugs...so I really don't waste much time on the couch (wasting away). Look forward, stay positive and do what's best for you...if you feel drugs has wasted your life then stay away from drugs.

The only regret I have in life is not picking the winning lottery numbers. That, and letting my dream man slip thru my fingers because Im a stubborn ass.</font>

i agree with you white_lighter, i've been getting high on weed and shrooms for a long time. I've noticed that all i do when i'm stoned is sit around. Me and my buddy figured this out a while ago and it kinda pisses me off. i don't see a lot of the people i was freinds with b4 because some of them won't just let me go get high when i want to. So i tened to hang out with the ones that do let me.

Though when i'm on mush i have to move aroud and do stuff, though its time consuming so i don't do it to much anymore.

I regret abusing pot. It krept up on me and before I knew it it was a
daily ritual. It's almost too easy to make it compatible, or seem
compatible, with living a normal life, but it also really saps your
energy and drive. When I was smoking too much pot I didn't think I ever
wanted to do anything. As soon as I had quit for a while I rediscovered
a lot of interests and my life got much better.

I don't regret doing LSD or RC's at all -- certain trips and choices of
set and setting I regret, but I feel I would be missing a major part of
my self if I hadn't ever tried psychedelics -- or if I could never do
them again. I guess that's kind of addictive, in a long-term kind of
way....

I can relate to that. When I smoked pot everyday all day (abusing)it did make me pretty lazy. When I took a time out old interest were rejuvanated....and not being high was a high in itself. I perfer not to abuse drugs. I do them, sure...but I enjoy life, take care of my responsibilities (sp?), and so on....soooo that when I decide to get high/trip I enjoy it and I am not consumed by bullshitdistractions and I can jump right into the deep personal issues at hand.

PLUS I like to let any tolerence disappear so I can actually feel the chemical I consume.
