Should I get the fangs removed?
I've gone through a lot of personal change in the last year, all very positive. The only remnants of my old self I'm no longer like, are my fangs. Which are 100% natural. When I was heavy into my Goth scene, they kind of complemented the vampire aesthetic, but now they just annoy me when people constantly ask if they're real and rumours float around about how I got them.
Due to a bad childhood incident, I haven't been to a dentist in years, but I think I'm ready to get over that fear and get my teeth sorted out. I don't mind the general condition of them, it's just the fangs that used to give me a bit of a mysterious edge that now make me feel self-conscious. If I got these removed, it would be a major, major change. They're a trademark of sorts...What do you guys think? http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v4...rent=fangs.jpg |

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
Ha! lol swia has natural pointed teeth that make her look very vampire like and this was long before she discovered that scene of people. Also worse because her hair was black and long orignally and her skin is always pale with her thin build.
Id say keep them. swia likes her teeth... up to you thou.. Also dont care what other people think. only consider it if it bothers others who love you and the change seems right to you and has been considered. |

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
At the moment, change seems right. I'm embracing all the change that comes into my life at the moment, because it's making it better than it ever has...But this would really sever all ties to my previous, more negative self and once they're gone...They're gone for good.

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
Nah, they are not gone for good. You could always have caps made up if you changed your mind.
I used to have fairly long canines until I went and "got my teeth fixed", I haven't regretted it. It sounds corny but having a nice straight smile really does make you want to smile more. 'Sides which, that whole "look at me, I'm different, I'm special" thing is a bit juvenile, you are probably ready to leave that behind too. |

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
Yeah, I realise that I'd rather be a quirky individual who can do mainstream, rather than pin myself to subcultural tendencies and block everything else out.
How long did it take to get yours fixed? Was it a very uncomfortable process, or will I be able to be N2O'd? :P I don't want braces though. |

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
Trust me, just get the local anesthetic injection. It's not like years ago when it hurt. Nowadays most decent dentist have a technique where they gently press the needle a little into the gum and put a few drops in before progressing further. It really doesn't hurt and you get a whole bunch of caps done and be given an instant smile!
I used to be horribly afraid of the dentist but since going through a load of fixing work it is not a problem. In fact it is more uncomfortable getting a scale and polish than it is to get stuff done under local. |

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
It really is your call,
Though I'd say that the place you want to get to in life is the place where you are not worrying about what other people may think of you. If you can do that without selling out to some sort of dental idealism, then thats great. If you find that too hard (which aint suprising when you think of all the beauty industry crap that goes on) then do what you need to do. Bear in mind, this is coming from someone in the UK, which as all true blue Amerikans know, is a small island inhabited by amazingly cultured but dentaly deformed people. |

Lol. Been trying to find the clip from that episode with Lisa on N2O and compare it to SWIM's experiences.

^"... and that's the tooth! ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ..."
I'd say junk the fangs. I personally love being able to pass for normal. Nobody ever suspects I'm a carnival inside. |

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
I used to have pointed ears. Scared the living piss out of people. But days went by and they changed to (nearly) normal ones. I miss 'em.

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
I think you should get your teeth sorted out, but not the fangs removed. They are part of who you are.
Your teeth do need some straightening though, and whitening. That will help you look much better. Braces and whitening should be all you need. Leave the fangs though, they are fine

And like the above poster says, if you have something about your look that can be improved, improve it. How you look is how you feel. |

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
Getting rid of them may look better, but aren't you forgetting something very important? Those fangs make excellent weapons! Chomping down on someone’s arm (in self defense of course
) would do some serious damage. I'd keep them around just for that.

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
One could see a dental surgeon and have them cored up into the sinuses and (thin) metal tubes installed. Then when you need to sneeze - you could hold your nose and blast the snot out your fangs onto your victim through the fangs! Imagine the fun!

Re: Should I get the fangs removed?
lmao..this thread is hilarious..man, come on now..i was expecting to see really dramatic dracula teeth but yours really aren't that noticeable..they are pointy and longer than the others, most people's are..yours just slightly exaggerated..not a big deal, but if you really believe the length of your canines define you then file them babies down
