Stupid mistake

When SWIM left his dorm room for good yesterday he was drunk and forgot to pack his trousers, wich he probably left on a roomates bed. The trousers' pockets contained some dirty coffe filters that where used in the CWE of codeine. If, by intention or accident SWIM's former roomates go thru his pockets and, finding theyre suspicios content go to the police, could SWIM be prosecuted based on evidence obtained in such a manner - without a search warrant? What are the odds of SWIM's ignorant but untrustfull roomates asociate a bunch of white powdered coffe filters with controled substances?
Please reply, SWIM is woried and very paranoid right now. Should he waste a lot of time and money to go back for his pants? It would be the lamest thing to go to jale for something as weak as codeine. How should he react if the worst happens?

wake up those should have found their way down a toilet, or out the car window , how about just tossing them away at the mcdonalds? go and get your pants, and do be more careful next time. If he has left his dorm room for good it would be very difficult for anyone to claim that *anything* found in his, now abandoned, trouser pockets was his.

He would simply state that any person alleging to having found something unlawful in his pockets may have put it there themselves.

What SWIY needs to ask is that, should someone want to be a complete dick if they were to discover said filters, is it worth the finger pointing and general accusations that would still have no legal basis for prosecution, or is it easier to simply go and collect his strides?

The filters are in a transparent plastic bag. I believe it can be checked for fingerprints. Of course, that only proves the actual container was in SWIM's posetion with him knowing of it.
