How much do lose by making the tea, and drinking it but leaving the chunks behind?

Well if swiy wanted to make sure they are getting as much as possible out a second or even third batch of tea can be made from the remaining plant material added to the first and simmered down to a drinkable amount.It's what's usually done when doing an extraction so swim knows this works.
