Second National Harm Reduction Therapy Conference: Harm Reduction Therapy in the Real World
Philadelphia PA
Friday November 2nd through Sunday November 4th, 2007
The Association for Harm Reduction Therapy is pleased to present the 2nd National Harm Reduction Therapy Conference. At this conference you will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from pioneers in the field of Harm Reduction Therapy (HRT). The thrust of the conference is practical, hands on training in how to do HRT in real world settings with real world populations.
The workshops will be organized into four tracks: Community Programs; Youth and Family Programs; Motivation and Goals; and Practicing HRT. The conference will also feature keynote addresses by Ricardo Munoz, Ph.D., co-author of
Controlling Your Drinking (with William Miller) and a pioneer in moderation approaches as well as disseminating practical harm reduction approaches to counselors and underserved individuals, and Maia Szalavitz, an award winning journalist who has been a strong supporter of harm reduction and rational drug policies for many years.
During evening receptions there will be a talk by Ethan Nadelmann, Director of the Drug Policy Alliance and a workshop by the Philadelphia Youth Health Empowerment Project on the experience of being a child/adolescent living with a substance using parent. In all, we anticipate this will be an exciting two and 1/2 days of learning, networking and fellowship for clinicians interested in learning more about how to do HRT "in the real world!"
