Opinions - Therapist pissing Don off...

I am not sure if this is the right section but here goes....

**Disclaimer** this story is about a kid named Don he is a friend of mine. I do not do drugs, so I wouldnt know what his situation is really like

Don is going to therapy and has been for quite some time now. He has been going and telling his therapist about the fact that he has used drugs and does not necessarily see something wrong with them. They can potentially be dangerous if misused or not respected. Don has taken quite a few psychedelics and has uprooted some emotional stuff. What is pissing don off about his therapist is the fact that he is one of those poeple who simply views drug use as "bad"... "wrong"... this urks don because the therapist helped him on other levels and now don was starting to be closer to the therapist, now down is pissed and a little freaked out because when don explains that he disagrees with the therapist's viewpoints on drugs he says ok well you can disagree but, thats just the way that it is.... Don is proud of the fact that he is strong enough to just say ummm.... thats not true, to his therapist, however he continues to say well you'll see blah blah blah... It makes Don respect his therapist less, he would not admit to this but his therapist seems like he thinks he just knows everything. Don explains to his therapist that he has friends who use marijuana responsibly, just as well as alcohol and other substances. It just sucks because of the fact that Don realized that he was kind of sitting there taking what his therapist had to say for so long simply because he was a therapist that disagreeing with him seemed pointless. Now that Don realizes this is not true he is infuriated about the things that Don allowed himself to internalize. Now he has a wierd sort of mixed feeling with marijuana.... ugh...

I think you should tell Don to get a new therapist, I did when mine started getting all opinionated on drugs.
By letting their opinions affect the way they help Don they are not doing there job, and it sounds as if Don is just getting stressed out by his sessions with him, obviously what you don't want.

Sounds like your friend is doing the equivalent of trying to discuss computer technology with a dyed-in-the-wool Luddite who is against any form of automation. A useless situation unless your friend enjoys paying for what is, in effect, a contest of wills.

Tell Don to search around for a new therapist, there are definitely reasonable ones out there. My pet dragon's parents once brought him to a therapist because they found out he was using drugs. After a long conversation with the therapist, a very sensible smart guy, he told the parents my dragon had no symptoms of abuse and could continue his usage patterns with no ill side effects or problems. Fantastic "what the fuck" expressions ensued on the parents' faces.

If you think that is bad swim had a therapist that called cannabis"pure evil"and took 1950's reefer maddness type propaganda as fact,and this was in 1999!

Yup she had ridiculous posters from the fifties in her office with pictures of weed being offered by almost devilish looking characters and the like.It was interesting because for the most part she seemed like some sort of new age hippie yet she was in truth completely ignorant.She was kinda hot though and often fuel for swims twisted,late night fantasies
