Note that the description of this forum has changed:
Quote:
Drugs are one of the most important factors / reasons wars are started and conflicts are there. Not only in the context of South American cocaine cartels or the Afghan opium lords that the USA has put into power, but also as underlying motives for situations and conflicts that seem to be motivated completely different. Drug trade & production means financial and political interest involving governments, armies and cartels. IMO this is a extremely interesting topic and I hope that this will interest members enough to start adding information about drugs in politics to this forum and to the file archive. I have added a Drugs & (Inter)National politics section to the file archive. There are many journals that publish studies on drugs and politics. These studies are generally disregarded by the media for reasons I do not yet understand. I feel it is important to highlight these studies as they clarify political situations in the world. Similar to medline for medical oriented publications there are search engines for politically oriented publications. If you have access to such, then please add publications to the file archive. If you add a lot of publications then please post here and I will boost your reputation level.

Re: (Inter)National conflicts: A new focus for the Politics forum
This looks like a wonderful opening to exposing the real drug pushers - the one's who go unpunished while the little guy/girl rot in jail to deflect attention from what's really behind the smoke & mirrors. Tally ho!

Re: (Inter)National conflicts: A new focus for the Politics forum
I agree that this will be a very interesting topic to focus on. Actually, I posted something very relevant along these lines a couple of days ago, but only a handful of people have read it. See this thread:

Re: (Inter)National conflicts: A new focus for the Politics forum
Nice, this is right up the alley of what I've been trying to get going with some of my recent threads; attempting to get a solid grip on the intertwining of drugs and politics and the parties involved.
@Expat98 Nice article, I was one of the handful who read it. Made me wonder why I'd never thought to post any of Chomsky's material before

Alfa, if you can tell me what some of these journals and especially search engines are called, I will be happy to start collecting some articles for the new section. h.a. |

JSTOR, Science Direct & Web Of Science are good to search on. I am getting more information on relevant journals in the coming week.

For those who have access to Science Direct: take a look at the International Journal of Drug Policy. It is stuffed with interesting articles, studies and book reviews.

I would have to look around a bit to find the better search engines / databases to use, though for now I can suggest that you try Researchnow.bepress.com Quote:
I don't have time to go through and search for articles to upload, but if anyone can't access the pdfs and wants to read one let me know and I could procure it and upload it to the archive. Speaking of the archive, there are already some pdfs from the International Journal of Drug Policy in the Drug Policy Debate section that not many people have read. Would be worth checking out for anyone interested. BajEdit: Lexis-Nexis also has alot of good stuff. It may be easier to just find a bunch of bigger databases and then search them in parallel. BajEdit2: I'm not sure if researchpress is open to all or if you need access.... Can people access this link for example? What about dl'ing the pdf? Last edited by Bajeda; 04-10-2007 at 03:27. |
