The N2Onion
Swim is relatively new to nitrous oxide and has only been using up to 3 chargers worth of N20 in one session. In his 2.5 weeks of exploring nitrous space he has found it to be quite remarkable. Interstingly, the nitrous experience has changed significantly for him in such a short time.
Initially, all he could do was marvel at the obvious sensory effects of the nitrous but was dissapointed by the lack of any deep, insightful experiences. Now, no matter what his mindset is, he simply cannot avoid profound and remarkable insights when using any more than 2 chargers, even if he is trying to avoid them and just wants to experience the sensory pleasures of nitrous. It just isn't possible. Nitrous oxide is a profoundly deep drug. The thing that he finds most remarkable however, is the fact that with each Nitrous experience he discovers an extra layer of depth to the universe. What tends to happen is that when the nitrous hits him, he relearns every profound insight that he learned the last time he was on nitrous; where essentially one insight paves the way for a new, bigger insight over and over again in what seems like a very logical and natural sequence of thought. It's just like layers of an onion, but just when he reaches the same level of depth as his last experience and he thinks there couldn't possibly be another layer of profundity, sure enough, one is revealed to him. Each time he does nitrous, he discovers one new layer of the onion. The N2Onion. This is as frustrating as it is remarkable, as each nitrous revelation tends to undermine the importance of the last, making it seem shallow in comparison. It's also frustrating because he finds doing nitrous to be much like trying to climb over a wall that keeps extending itself whenever one is within reach of the top. One day, he hopes to smash right through that wall, and he'll keep on trying until that happens. Last edited by Paracelsus; 05-09-2007 at 01:23. |

Re: The N2Onion
Caution should be advised with too frequent use. Even if one would manage to climb over that wall, the nervous system would be severely damaged (via B12 deficiency - look it up).

Re: The N2Onion
SWIM is overjoyed to hear SWIY describe his nitrous experiences as deep, SWIM would consider his own explorations of nitrous to have provided deep experiences but many people seem to find only a quick buzz in nitrous and poo poo the possibility of anything more, SWIM is sure SWIY will enjoy this exploration.
although combining drugs is not "advised" and is each individuals choice SWIM has found that combining nitrous with ecstacy and with weed to extend the effects of the nitrous and allowing more time to wander around and work out thoughts within the world of nos, for along time SWIM believed "the answer" could be found within nitrous, and SWIM did find answers, but to qusetions he had never thought to ask. SWIM wishes SWIY well in your travels, and suggests that a ped and pad to scrawl thoughts upon as they occour can be most usefull, or at least interesting. peace |

Re: The N2Onion
Swim has found nitrous to be incredible when combined with powerful psychedelics and/or cannabis.
He's also found a different sort of N2Onion; that of regressing through various stages of the human brain. If he holds one's breath to the point where the body begins craving oxygen, he finds that his mental state becomes more and more primitive the longer he lets it go on. It's like going back to the child brain, through the collective unconscious, then to the primate brain, and then finally the lizard brain (which takes over, freaks, and expels the contents of his lungs). Re: The N2Onion
Swim has encountered nitrous numerous times and has noticed different depths of intoxication on occaisons but never found such a profound meaning.
If the number of bulbs used each time keeps going up then surely at some point, there will be a risk of damage because of a lack of oxygen. Caution should be used when pushing boundries Have fun and stay safe

Re: The N2Onion
Swim wonders about that as well, but he's sure one would pass out and begin breathing normally before any serious damage could occur. He has often awoken from a meditative n2o state hours after he entered it...probably because he passed out. O2 deprivation is also where the headache comes from (which he rarely gets, as he tries to stay mindful and take breaths of normal air in between charges).
Just don't tie plastic bags around yer head. ![]() Of course frequent, long-term abuse can have consequences. The B12 troubles are well-known. ECL |

"He has often awoken from a meditative n2o state hours after he entered it..."
Are you serious? Hours?? That's bad for Swiy. Swiy has occasionally woken up from a N2O trance-like state that has felt like hours but in reality it was only a few minutes. Of course, it is important to take a few deep breaths of oxygen between chargers of nitrous. Strangely enough, no matter how hard one is trying to hold on to their nitrous and how out-of-it they are, the body always seems to know when it is time to let it go and breath oxygen again. |

Re: The N2Onion
If one wants to deepend the meditative extent of N20 setting is at least as important as quantity consumed. Swim finds that a single bulb consumed while listening to some Infected Mushroom and watching the Electric Sheep screensaver is just as good as multiple bulbs while doing something else. Maybe not in terms of getting fucked up, but in terms of probing your mind.
BTW some of the swimmers in this forum might be interested to know that swim got the inspiration for his computer science major thesis (which involves genetic algorithms and publicly managed internet data) in the depths of a nitrous trance. |
