Combinations - Questions about Kratom and SSRI's

Its certainly not recommended, however, swim does recall hearing that opiates/opioids are safe to use with some SSRIs such as lexapro(escitalopram). SWIM's friend has used kratom on lexapro with no adverse side effects before. Although, it really depends on which SSRI SWIY is talking about. What SSRI would SWIY be taking?

I'd suggest being cautious depending on why SWIY takes the SSRI. It wouldn't be too hard to get in a situation where one is chronically self-medicating the problem with kratom.

In my opinion no drug is worth getting addicted to unless one requires it to live a satisfactory life.

Anything which can get one "high" can become a crutch if one has depression problems or the like. I'm not trying to be alarmist, just to provide food for thought.

SWIM has used Kratom with SSRIs (Citalopram) with no adverse effects. However he wouldn't like to comment on the long term though as he hasn't being using Kratom for a long time.

it is not likely to cause problems, kratom doesnt act on serotonin as far as swim knows.
he never had any adverse affects either on fluvoxamine.

Swim has used lexapro 10 mg per day for about 1 year and used Kratom with no problem.

Swim takes 10mg a day of Lexapro and also has had no problems with Kratom

Nothing is totally safe.
Swim has been using Kratom for about 3 years, during which time he has been on 20mg Lexapro daily and for six months he also took 40mg zispin and xanax daily, swim found there was no problems.

But everyone is different, what does nothing to swim might knock someone else on their ear.

have you seen the many ugly side affects of ssri's and maoi's ugly shit .... swiy should definately switch to something more natural like st. johns or kanna which the latter is also an ssri and st. johns has proven just as effective if not more than scripts .... swim used to take deppression medications and all they did is make his fuse short give him a limpy and more deppressed or just emotionally numb. swiy will figure this out when he can't recall why he landed in a mental institution and doesn't know why he feels all doped up and can't recall what happened four the last four days.
swiy should talk to a naturalist and give it some thought ...kill_

SWIM currently is taking Wellbutrin for depression along with Ultra Enhanced Indo kratom extract. SWIM has had no problem with the interaction. Although SWIM is certain that Wellbutrin most works on dopamine pathways instead an being an SSRI.

SWIM has been on Paroxetine and experienced no problems with Kratom. SWIM currently takes Effexor, and again, no problems what-so-ever.

SWIM told me that Kratom does indeed interact with St. John's Wort.

SWIM said his blood pressure sky rocketed after combining the two. He also told me that the last time he took St. John's Wort was 4 days ago. The long half-lives of the actives are most likely the culprit in this case. Anyone who is using St. John's Wort daily and plans to fit Kratom into their drug regime should discontinue St. John's Wort for at least 2 - 3 weeks... AT LEAST...

This is a rough estimation, but SWIM thinks he dosed 0.6 - 0.9 grams of Super Indo on a full stomach. Also, based on the half-lives of Hyperforin and Hypericin (the two main actives in St. John's Wort) He'd say he had roughly 150 - 200 mg worth of St. John's Wort plant material in his blood. A fairly low amount, he says.

He also stressed the fact that there were no other drugs in his system at the time that could have contributed to this rise in blood pressure. Not even caffeine.

Edit: SWIM's blood pressure was 169/98... normal bp is 122/ 76. SWIM could only imagine what a higher dose would have done.

Swiy also takes Lexapro. What if Swiy just skipped taking the Lexapro whatever days he does Kratom? That's what Swiy does whenever he smokes weed.

I'd advise sticking to the dose SWIY's doctor has told him and not miss any doses - missing doses is a big no-no when taking antidepressants.


SWIM takes prozac and hasn't noticed any problems with kratom. SWIM also drinks and hasn't noticed any interactions even though the instructions say you should avoid alcohol. But they say that with every medication.

So swiy thinks it wouldn't do any harm to not skip the Lexapro when smoking, drinking or taking Kratom?
