buprenorphine tapering
SWIM has been taking buprenorphine (suboxone) for about 8 months now and is going to start tapering down. SWIM knows buprenorphine binds to receptors very strongly and SWIM was never able to feel much of anything at all after shootin when he took his suboxone. SWIM is on 32 mg. SWIM is wondering... when SWIM tapers low enough to where he feels sick, will other opiods make him feel better, or will they still be blocked? SWIM is very curious. Also, if anyone would like to share their coming off bup then that would be really cool too.

Re: buprenorphine tapering
my friend has been on a suboxone maintenance program for 3 months, starting with 12mg and now down to 4mg per day. his doctor told him that it takes about 2 days for the suboxone to wear off and let other opiods have their full effects. if one were to take another opiod while still on a low dose of suboxone, for the most part it will be blocked. he tried taking hydrocodone after taking 4mg of suboxone earlier that day, and they had very little effect on him, maybe just a slight buzz (and this was from a large dose of hydrocodone).
