Mixing anti-deppresants with 5-HTP

Hey everybody. My Mom is currently prescribed 37.5mg of Effexor along with 150mg of Lamictal. (for depression) Her results with these drugs have not been the best. I heard good things about 5-HTP and started taking it a few days ago to combat anxiety and it seems to be working well. I think my Mom might benefit from it as well but my question is: will taking 5-HTP in conjuction with the above drugs have any negative affect? Also, would it be worth trying 5-HTP alone or will it more than likely yield no better results than her current combination? I told her to speak to her physician but she forgot on her most recent visit Just trying to get some opinions! Thanks
