Mimosa Hostilis Cultivation
Swim has gotten hold of some mimosa hostilis seeds, they were a gift from a friend, however he has never seen a mimosa hostilis plant and wants to know everything possible about them like best way to cultivate, size, etc.
Does anybody have any experience with this? Swim would appreciate any help he could get on how to grow this wonderful plant and later on be able to make his own dmt, thanks! |

Re: Mimosa Hostilis Cultivation
Takes 2-3 years to harvest them SWIM heard, if thats from seedlings or small plants SWIM does not know, SWIM assumes replicating the growing conditions of Brazillian forests would be best, they also grow in Mexico SWIM has heard. SWIM says that there needs to be nitrogen-fixing bacteria microbes in the soil, otherwise you will have slow weak growth or die as seedlings, SWIM has read this about other Mimosa varieties, one would think it would be the same for Hostilis. But back to the bacteria, it forms a bond with the roots, which converts Nitrogen to Ammonia which the plant can use. If SWIY is still intrested about growing a Mimosa variety SWIY can use Pea seeds or Vetch seeds, to make a root system for the Mimosa. Theres a few articles on the internet one could find about growing Mimosa
Good Luck!

Re: Mimosa Hostilis Cultivation
Thanks, by the way swim forgot to mention that he lives in Peru, so maybe it would be easier to grow them here? However he lives in the coast and from what he knows these are jungle plants, aren't they?

Re: Mimosa Hostilis Cultivation
I'd like to link to the site which I originally read this on, that I found again, but its a commercial website
hence against the rules, I cannot seem to find any other Mimosa growing guides except some for "Water Mimosa" in Bangcok.... :O

Re: Mimosa Hostilis Cultivation
Maybe if it wouldn't be too much of a drag you could copy and paste it to a word document and post it in the file archive, I don't think that would be against the rules and I would really appreciate it because I haven't had much luck in finding any growing guides. Just if it isn't too much of a problem. Thanks!

Re: Mimosa Hostilis Cultivation
Ha if you live in peru you could probably just stick them in the ground. When Swim went to costa rica there was MH growing all over the hills. Usually they were in fairly sunny places, in the middle of fields and slightly higher elevation. Don't know much else about it, good luck.

Re: Mimosa Hostilis Cultivation
Sorry, but I'll bump this thread back up, because the leprechaun that lives in my garden is still looking for some info on how to grow Mimosa Hostilis
