Increased Heart Rate from LSD

Hi, "My Flamingo" has been preparing for 2 weeks for her first trip on LSD. She's just worried that the increase in heart rate will make become a bad trip like it did with some mushies not too long ago.

How long does the increased-heart-rate-phase take or does it last for the whole duration of the trip?

Is it a big increase, how does it compare to the increase in heart rate you get from running?

Is it advisable to NOT trip if "My Flamingo" thinks she has heart problems?

Re: Increased Heart Rate

u accidentally incriminated urself buddy, maybe if u send a message to a moderator quick u can get them to edit it for u, idk if ull still lose rep, if u ask them fast enough. I dont kno much about acid but if it raises your heart rate wouldnt it be good to take something which would lower it, i have no idea what would do this so u mite wanna look into it on a search engine. Sorry i couldnt be more helpful

Re: Increased Heart Rate

In SWIJ's Flamingo's experience (funny thing, all these pink birds, eh?) LSD doesn't cause that much autonomic arousal (fast heart, elevated blood pressure etc), although nausea can be a problem.

Certainly, anxiety surrounding bodily sensations can sometimes lead to unpleasant thought loops and frightening ideas, but in her experience all that needs to be done is to remind herself that this is due to a drug, and possibly change the physical environment somewhat.

As SWIJ's is a (relatively) sedentary flamingo she can't compare the elevation in heart rate to running, but it's certainly not as high as half an hour of sex, or some vigorous gardening would get it!

Does your flamingo have a heart problem? Or are they concerned that they might?

If they have a heart problem, then taking any drug which causes an elevation in heart rate could lead to problems, and should not be recommended.

If they are concerned that they might have a heart problem., they should get this checked out before partaking. The anxiety will not a good trip make

Re: Increased Heart Rate

SWIRPs knowledge of increased heart rate has been that its can be VERY psychosematic with anxiety being the main trigger.

Otherwise heart rate increase is not more than say that of a very brisk walk.

WHen (the great) albert hoffman first tripped with .25milligrams of LSD (far greater than one hit) he thought he was going to go mad forever or die fomr some physical side effects and he had been poisoned ahence called a doctor. The doctor noted that there was absolutely nothing wrong with him physically.

The excitement and wonder could lead to increased heart rate but the simple fact your flamingo has focused on this worry may cause badness.

Please remind yoru famingoo that apart fomr a few random suicides and accidents and mental health issues (as repoted in the media) there's never been anyone in MY knowledge and of those I associate with to ever have harm caused physically to them purely foir the drug. Others can submit their own statistics to this if I am wrong.

I would be very aware of the fact that teh probability of someone being the first person to have some type fo heart reaction on LSD would be quite small.

Having said that, the mind is a powerful tool and can be even more so on LSD. This means dangerous things coudl be induced in peple who have a mental propensity towards such things.

The thing abotu yoru flamingo is that she "thinks" she has a heart problem which could actually be like SWIRPs friend who ALWAYS thinks he is about to have a heart attack when under the influence of any mind altering substance.

YOur flamingo should go and see a qualified vet and chekc if she ACTUALLY has any form of heart problem.
